So I was either building something on the livingroom floor or playing army. Yes.. I said army And I am pretty sure my mom was shaking her head or rolling her eyes as my dad yelled at the TV, "Get a hair cut, damn it!"
It was 1962 when I first heard The Beatles first record on the radio, Love Me Do. I wasn't long after I had discovered Bob Dylan and it became obvious the times really were a changin.

The first boomers had the talent and discipline of that strict and often stultifyingly repressed society they grew up in, and then their arts had to meet and beat that society with standards. I suppose the irony is the society they opposed was the reason intellectuals and creatives didn't get beaten up.
Luckily we didn't have the Ed Sullivan show. I can't remember when I first saw the Beatles, but it would have been on British tv with no adverts. The BBC and the Beatles, just two of the many reasons for being proud to be BRITISH.
