Tuesday2018: Ah that's a myth and used by lazy people as an excuse to get out of cooking a proper meal....

Well... It depends on the country. In Sweden, for instance, bought food of whatever quality is more expensive, than self cooked. Though my impression is that it's not the case in USA, there you can acquire a lot of junk for a song, while buying ingridients and preparing a proper meal isn't cheap.

Still, it's not an excuse: junk is junk and you are what you eat (and drink).

I quit smoking for 3 months, 4.5 months over the last couple of years and started again then quit and started again. Not too smart eh. frustrated I will quit again and hopefully soon.
A package of 25 regular length of Payers Filter Original costs from $17.00 to $19.15 (Canadian dollars) depending on were you make the purchase. There are other brands that cost less of course but the quality just isn't the same.
A bottle of beer 350ml drinking runs around $5.50 in most places. Not sure what a case of 12 or 18 might be at the liquor store since it has been a couple of years since I made a purchase.

I don't smoke. The only thing I like smoked is meats, seafood, and cheeses. My German Grandfather built a home made smoker out of an old refrigerator and a small wood stove. He gutted the electrical and mechanics of the refrigerator, sealed the holes and made a hole in the bottom and the top the refrigerator, the bottom was attached over a small wood stove then he put a metal chimney on the top of the refrigerator. He would place meats and fish (he caught trout in the river behind his back yard) on the racks of the refrigerator. When I worked at a Mobile four star resort we had smoked mussels from Maine flown in. I could eat those things like popcorn.

Hail Pedro, how are you buddy?

We have here a range of cigarettes' prices (because the innumerous companies), but the average of the cheapest is about 1,00 Euros and most expensive is about 1,90 Euros.
But do not get wrong yourself: it does not mean a "bad quality", because there is an enormous production here (only behind the China) in the south of the country (approximately 550 cities working in the production), then the values are very accessible.
Once I do not smoke cigarettes but pipe only, I usually pay about $25,00 Brazil's money, about 5,60 Euros for 45g of tobacco; personally talking now, it is still very cheap to me because my frequency of smoking is low (as I have said in other topic from you, time ago).

The most serious problem here is the smuggling of Paraguay coming to Brazil, causing disturbing on the taxes system and prejudging terribly the health of the smokers (the "normal" product is not good, the smuggled is worse).
I suppose the value of smuggled cigarettes is approximately 0,40 Euros, then you can imagine how many buyers exist in all this South American subcontinent...
roll eyes

And how did it go so wrong?

Because the point of Thatcherism was for everybody not responsible enough to own their own property to die out. Yes the property was monopolised by a few idle landlords however killing the poor would have prevented this trap we now find ourselves in. Basically they made looking after the poor ridiculously expensive in the hope that we’d stop doing it, but we didn’t and this is why half the money we spend on welfare pays for foreign cruises and holiday homes etc.
