Just before i retired i noticed a change on work places, all target driven, shop girls worked so fast no personel work just driven. Even NHS now targets for this and that. Soooo glad i am out of the rat race.

Happy New year xx
Happy New Year to you too!
Yes, I do believe if we all really contemplate the Rat Race, we will all retire!!!
smiley963: I have always found, that the client sets the pace, and yesterday is not early enough, with all!!!
It's still your choice at the end... I could have four clients today but they all agreed to come on Monday... I do have a good understanding about my clients and they have the same about me... We do respect each other...

Yes, anyone with any team, or on their own, can only work so fast. Only so much planning can be done, and the unexpected still occurs. The impossible, is not possible, unfortunately for unreasonable clients!

Quality comes before quantity... I can't risk working with low level of concentration, and my clients know it very well...

pKrema: Yes, of course, it all depends on what we do... Marketing and targeting the right range of clients is essential for sales...
Coming back to the Rat Race: We are all in the Rat Race, whether we want to or not, and we have to realise that the level of influence on us, depends on how much our line of business allows us, to let it affect us directly, which causes burnout, and various other gremlins!

I still believe one can be a good professional without having to join any kind of race... But it really depends on what they do...

Bearwoman: When someone becomes part of the rat race is if they choose to be.
Everyone that does anything, is part of the rat race, even retired people depends on the rat race, but will not necessarily be directly affected, only by choice, if they do extra work, for an extra income!

It is stressful and exhilarating!!!
You name it?
The question is:
Will You survive it?
In the olden days, people had very little worries, as they were not striving for the impossible!
Today, it's the norm!
