The pharmacy industries is a big maffia family. This week on the news I heard a hospital in Rotterdam, the Erasmus universal medical centre, had made a good medicine against cancer, and they could give it to patients for about 6000 per capsule. Now they sold it to a suisse pharmacy and now the same capsule must cost 24000 euro. The healthinsurances in my country refuse to pay that much, and they are right. It's the same old story every time and it has to stop.

PeKaatje: Oops, see I made a mistake the capsules were 4000 euro in stead of 6000, and now they are six times as expensive.
In U.S. its the same, top doctors are saying some new drugs are a rip off. Beware of copay and fine print. Many doctors try to act like they have nothing to do with price . For years weve had fradulent research claims about many new drugs and government does nothing.

Strange that the biggest pharmaceutical companies are financial supporters of the Republican party, Also that Obamacare, if it had been allowed, would have effectively stopped the huge mark ups. The blame lies squarely on Republicans shoulders. But the thruth won't be believed.

There's no profits to be made in finding a cure...so they never will..but there's loaaaaads of money to be made from the various medications and treatments that patients need, that can go on for a lifetime...so they'll pump out the treatments, get them patented, and charge a fortune for them....for as long as people are willing to put up with it...no point asking the politicians to change it ether...if they tried the lobbyists would hang them out to dry...
Patents are a scourge on progress too. If all discoveries were open sourced we'd probably be hundreds of years ahead by now....capitalism has a lot to answer for...

Free? I'm paying about 10% of my salary for my health insurance, I'm forced by the government to have this insurance. And then I still got an own risk of about 400 euro's.
But all the fugitives living here get it for free, we have to pay for them also...
