Like entertainment 2018 but one year further along... Music, film theatre, galleries, museums... Speak up, let us know what's ticking the boxes and what's poisoning the wells... conversing

I've seen The Favourite. It's definitely worth going to see. It's based on Queen Anne and her adviser, and an usurper. The casting is excellent and it is a visual extravaganza.
It is based on historical events but much poetic licence is used.
It's offbeat, irreligious and hilarious at times.

Yes Molly, I was going to see that last Thursday, but business got in the way... Do check out the directors previous film 'the lobster', Olivia Coleman and Rachel Weiss, along with Colin Farrell and John C Reilly, unreal piece of cinema, I only saw it last week and I'm still reeling over it... As for me, I'll have seen the favourite by Friday, not a doubt in my mind... thumbs up

I've seen The Lobster. That was partly filmed in Kerry and West Cork. It's dark.

Have you seen 'dogtooth', it's in Greek, if so, would you recommend?... Very hard to track down without dvd shops and the like...

I havent seen that.
I did go to see a Cypriot film recently called Smuggling Hendrix. It's basically about a dog but it's really about the aftermath of the Turkish invasion of the north of the island.

Ah yes, I had that in my newsfeed a couple of hours ago... I'll have to look it up... Its so often the foreign language films that cough up good story telling, something that's lost to the Hollywood system...

From memory, I think this was made in English.
I don't mind subtitled films in the slightest, but dubbed ones i abhor.

Ah, thanks for that... A sky man myself, with a pvr hacked up with stuff I've not got around to watching... Much of which I'd have on my tablet if I could, (handy for work nights)... 160 euro TV licence for nothing as I don't watch Irish programming... Young offenders being the exception... laugh
