The bible describes it as "the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things unseen" (Hebrews 11.1)

Alcoholics Anonymous describes it as - Forsaking All I Trust Him

Napoleon Hill of Think & Grow Rich describes it as "a state of MIND which may be induced or created by affirmation or repeated instructions to the subconscious mind"

But what really is faith? Your thoughts?professor

I think it has something to do with intuition. The act of believing in something without, or in spite of, available empirical evidence.

I was refering to the little boy in the movie the Matrix. That was his line in the movie but if you look at it from a Søren Kierkegaard outlook it can represent a leap of faith.

Well... here is an original quote from me, that explains it... along with hope.

Hope is the light at the end of the tunnel, and FAITH is what gets us there.

I'm not familiar with works of Søren Kierkegaard. ( Takes a note)

But the Nietzsche's " Amor Fati" caught me complitely. His concept of Fate refering to the power of will or Amor fati which means love of life.

LOL I have not seen that movie ...that's why i did not get it.

To have faith means to believe in something with out a doubt.

To have Faith means to let things happen and know they will turn out all right

Faith in God means to know that he has a plan and it is not for us to understand how and why just to know that he will always be with us.

Oh, it is a great movie. If you get a chance to watch it there are sequels to it. I like Nietzsche's idea of overcoming nilhism. Nihilism is a philosophical position, often associated with Friedrich Nietzsche. Although Nietzsche ridiculed Nihilism, he had done so under the definition of Fatalism. Nihilism argues that the world, especially past and current human existence, is without objective meaning, purpose, comprehensible truth, or essential value. Nihilists generally assert some or all of the following: there is no reasonable proof of the existence of a higher ruler or creator, a "true morality" is unknown, and secular ethics are impossible; therefore, life has no truth, and no action is known to be preferable to any other.
