Theresa May tries to turn screw on Corbyn after surviving no confidence vote
Ellen Manning
Yahoo News UK16 January 2019

Theresa May has criticised Jeremy Corbyn for refusing to take part in emergency Brexit talks after she scraped through a vote of no confidence in her Government’s handling of the crisis.

In a speech outside Downing Street on Wednesday night, the Prime Minister urged MPs to put self-interest aside and confirmed she had held talks with the SNP, Plaid and Lib Dems – but that Jeremy Corbyn had chosen not to take part.

Mr Corbyn had previously said he will only take part in cross-party talks if Mrs May takes the prospect of a ‘no deal’ Brexit off the table.

Elsewhere, significantly, it has emerged that the EU could be preparing to offer a delay in Brexit until next year, with French and German officials believing the UK to be in such a logjam that it will take at least 12 months to resolve.

Previous planning had centred on a three-month delay to Brexit from March 29 until the end of June but now, according to sources quoted by The Times, EU officials are investigating legal routes to postpone Britain’s withdrawal until 2020.

aries1234: Personally i have no problem with a hard boreder separating north and south Ireland, they are aor politocalpurposes sparate countries now. If Eire stay in the common marke it makes sense to have a hard costoms border between the two.
What is actually the benefit of possessing Northern Ireland for the UK? What is the reason why they don't give it back to Ireland? I don't think, (but maybe I'm wrong for I don't know much about that part of the UK, unfortunately, haven't had the chance to visit it), that it's good for the UK because there are a lot of factories, economic profit etc. Or maybe the UK should negogiate with Ireland to leave the EU together and form one nation, the UK and Ireland. They speak the same language, they're both Islands (and lovely islands with great landscapes).
Allthough in Ireland they play hurling while in the UK they play soccer.
Still I hope the Brexit will come through and it will be a hugh success for the UK.

Have a good weekend.

Got a few days release from the psychiatric hospital again?

There is no “EU president" . assuming that your moronic brain is talking about The President of the European Commission, this person is selected/appointed by the national leaders (heads of state or government of EU countries), with the approval of the European Parliament ( the people elected directly). he's not the head of a state of europe.

google is free, but regarding EU working , here:

1. The direction of the EU is decided by the European Council - the member states are the most powerful decision making group in the EU, not a "president".

2. The European Commission (the civil service of the EU) propose laws to move the EU in the decided direction. The Commission can only propose EU laws in areas where any government and the country parliament has allowed it to do so. "propose" does NOT mean "decide"

3. The "proposed law" is passed to the European Parliament - 751 MEPS elected by proportional representation, and representing the second-largest democratic electorate in the world after the parliament of India, and the largest trans-national democratic electorate in the world.

4. Those MEPs can approve, reject, or amend the "proposed laws" as they want. Only if a majority of MEPs vote for a bill AND it is approved by qualified majority (Qualified majority of EU council have to vote for it, and they have to represent 65% of the EU population as well. Btw, this was introduced into the EU by the UK)

5. If an issue is particularly sensitive, unanimity is required in the EU Council.

Thanks for exposing yourself as the idiot you are.....AGAIN !!! comfort

There is no whole country and Brexit may amount to nothing more than something which damages the ideology of the ruling class. It’s hard to shape a plan out of generally pissed off, UKIP always was the nagging woman in the EU earhole will something actually happen before the rest of Europe is completely outraged by immigration? Probably not.

Nearly three years ago, this man is a labour MEP, and might br slightly.. biased.

This article is nearly three years old and things have been moved on since the dark ages.

Of course we are still paing the EU dues, this will cease on March 29 2019, when we will leave the EU.

Conversly they are still making grants to us until that date.

None of the issues you raise are the problems with Mays deal proposal, but the main obstacle , the Backstop issue, is now being resolved.

And we will go on our merry way on the 29, whats the EU going to do, invade us??
Which merry way is that Tom? From what I can gather, whichever way we go, it's going to be far from merry.
Many people are now saying, the deal May had turned down by parliament, or any other deal she can come up with, should be put to a public vote for the people to decide if that's what they want, as it's quite clear the deal on the table is far removed from what people originally thought they were voting on.

I've just dusted off my Finnish passport, I'm not hanging around if we stay in.

The global elite in Europe will try to hang us out to dry.
