The period we refer to as the post-war consensus was what it takes for a democracy to work.
We remember back then as a golden age when in actuality today is the dark age and the good old days are simply what is required. A basic decency and understanding that you can’t always get what you want. This concept of consensus was maintained(in Britain)ever since the working class got the vote and it’s true to say that both today and the 1930s are the exception to the rule. Partisanship is a political civil war in every way, shape and form the opposite of the good old days.
Money and good times make people more selfish and this eventually clashes with the idea that other people are just as important as you and that their vote is worth as much as yours.
Liberal democracy and free society gets rich because it allows talent to emerge. We wouldn’t get these marvellous creations if we still lived under the Ancien Regime but those marvellous creations spoil you in the end, reliance on comfort and technology mean you can no longer work or even live with anybody else. Connectingsingles is a hallmark of this social death.
Feminism plays a part in the breakdown of consensus too.
Not for the women per se but the effect women’s lib has on men. Perhaps 20% of men behave the same when women are around - and they’re normally gays and alpha males. 80% of men become overexcited by the presence of women - more selfish, more competitive, more foolish, more reckless and more gullible 80% of men become less reasonable when women are allowed out.
Anything even resembling a woman has this effect of making men more selfish and competitive than who they really are
Between the years of 1979 and 1990 Britain was ruled by a transvestite and by the end of that period half the country believed in greed is good. Actual patriarchy never said greed is good.
smiley963: So many people, have such strong opinions about what they feel should happen and should be. We are all individuals, but if you have a lot of people agreeing with you on your opinions, like an online petition, would you want it made into Law, that it must happen, and those disagreeing with you, will be dis-obeying your Law, with serious repercussions for them!
A petition is a request to do something, most commonly addressed to a government official or public entity. Petitions to a deity are a form of prayer called supplication. In the colloquial sense, a petition is a document addressed to some official and signed by numerous individuals.
When you copy and paste someone else's words to make up a significant portion of what you want to say, it's considered plagerizim when you don't give credit to your source.
