pKrema: It's about how you say it that makes the great difference...
The way you serve your criticism is essential to how it's gonna be accepted or not...
Every critisms holds a seed of truth in it, there's always something that triggers the desire of another person to hurt your ego...
Thus the eloquent get away scot-free? I do not agree that criticisms hold a seed of truth, when made to harm, not constructive criticism. As soon as something hurts your ego, whatever level it is, doesn't it then harm, as you think less of yourself after, if you accept it as meaning well, which in actual fact will cause great harm, and break you down. That is if you take it seriously as well.

smiley963: Google:

Criticism:
the expression of disapproval of someone or something on the basis of perceived faults or mistakes.

Psychosis:
a severe mental disorder in which thought and emotions are so impaired that contact is lost with external reality.

Can you now see how the two words can be put together?

The criticiser, aiming to disapprove and harm, has a severe psychosis, like someone contravening the law almost, losing touch with reality, through always criticising the people they don't like, and disapprove of. Note: Criticism is on a basis of Perceived faults and mistakes, so it is the criticiser at fault, not the criticised!
There is no such illness as "criticism psychosis"

It's up to you if you want to see the critisms as a viscous lie, which only purpose is to harm you...
Flattering could be much more harmful but it's much preferred because it's ego stroking...

It's the way you say it to someone, that can makes them feel criticized... or, make them ponder the thought in their mind... My Mom had a way of... not criticizing me, but to plant seeds of thoughts, many of the things she told me as a little boy, I remember today...

Yes tone of voice projects lots of different attitudes, and can make you feel like a worm, or worse.

Thanks for sharing. a Very interesting and very true read. Most people hate criticism, as it breaks down the person it is directed at, and is meant to. Have you considered that these people criticising you, might find you a threat in some way, and criticise you to get rid of that part of your personality, for you to feel ashamed of a part of you, and suppress it?

Not when it is a family member (a mother/father for example).
It is meant to be for our personal growth!

The people criticising might consider it as constructive criticism, but do you?

I feel the type that harms, should be done away with, as it's just for the person doing the criticising's enjoyment! Many people have criticising as a pet hobby, "What can they find wrong today, with who-ever"!
