If a man greeted me with dear, darling or honey I find it camp or sarcastic depending on tone. I feel like a be hunted deer. I always find it a bit akward when someone that I don't know call's me "my dear" to start a conversation..

You either need to get over yourself or learn some resilience my dear girl..to say you feel like a hunted dear is absurd in the extreme.....those words are not precursors to the man leaping on you and raping you....at least not in 99.9999999% of cases....
Usually scammers use this type of words in their first e-mail .If someone is on a dating site, then the person is desperate , the person would like to hear nice words
In my part of theworld we call women my dear, my darling, my beauty, my lovely amongst other things, it's our way of talking and showing affectionate attention, if you object to these things don't come to the West of England

Any scammers that contacted me usually go way overboard on how good my profile is...or how beautiful I am??? (that one's pretty obvious since I've no photo up)...and then asked to move to email.....I don't recall them ever using any pet names....:)

And if tetchy women could just get over themselves they'd find that it is nice..ok..there is a limit...but I've yet to feel like a hunted deer when any man's called me "love" lol....
