Pakistan has confirmed it carried out air strikes in Indian-controlled Kashmir and shot down two Indian jets in its own airspace, capturing one of the pilots as the conflict with its nuclear-armed neighbour continued to escalate.
"Today, Pakistan Air Force undertook strikes across Line of Control from within Pakistani airspace," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The Pakistan military said Indian jets had entered Pakistan in response and two had been shot down, with one pilot captured.
Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan will stage an emergency parliamentary session and meet with the body in control of Islamabad's nuclear arsenal in response to India's first air strikes on Pakistan since 1971.
Key points:
Indian fighter jets struck an area 50 kilometres into Pakistan on Tuesday India said the strike was in response to a terrorist attack that killed 44 Indian police Pakistan said its own warplanes had scattered Indian jets, forcing them to drop their payload over uninhabited areas
Pakistan operates 425 combat aircraft, an eclectic mix of French, US, Chinese and joint-produced jets. India owns over 800 planes ready for combat, though much of their fleet is composed of Cold War-era Soviet-made jets like the MiG-21 and MiG-27 that are close to obsoletion even with modern modifications. The bulk of its firepower comes from the more recent Russian-made Su-30, with well over 200 such planes available to the Indian air force.
According to Indian media, 12 Mirage 2000 fighter jets bombed sites belonging to Jaish-e-Mohammed jihadist group, active in Kashmir. The strikes were “100 percent successful” and went “exactly as planned,” NDTV reported, citing sources.
It was the first time Indian warplanes have crossed the Line of Control (LoC), separating the nations in Kashmir, since 1971, when the two states were waging open war against each other.
The Pakistani military confirmed the incursion of the Indian jets into its territory but offered their own account of what happened next. The army’s spokesperson,
Pakistan has suspended all commercial flights. Flight radar images showed airspace across north India had been cleared. Eight major Indian airports have been closed indefinitely including those in Jammu city, Srinagar and Amritsar.

India and Pakistan have been threatening war for many decades, and nuclear war for several decades. And nothing ore than the occasional border skirmish ever happens.
he is a hypocritical lair as far as i am concerned, i visited his legal office a couple times and I am not impressed. Pakistan India conflicts :- The separatist violence has killed more than 47,000 people since 1989, although this toll doesn't include people who have disappeared due to the conflict. Some human rights groups and nongovernmental organizations put the death toll at twice that amount. It's also disrupted the region's economy.
The Pakistan Air Force was detected and the Indian Air Force responded instantly. In that aerial engagement, one Pakistan Air Force fighter aircraft was shot down by a MiG 21 Bison of the Indian Air Force. The Pakistani aircraft was seen by ground forces falling from the sky on the Pakistan side. In this engagement, we have unfortunately lost one MiG 21."
charles_nz: The entire Indian sub continent has always been in a state of barely veiled hostility.
That's just the way those people are.
I've spent time in both India and Pakistan, far from finding veiled hostility, I found wonderful welcoming people . There nothing like first hand experience to see behind the propaganda.

It is not "propaganda" to be aware of world events, including the fact that ever since WWII, India, Pakistan, and what is now Bangladesh have been at each others' throats almost constantly. As have Muslims against Christians, Hindus against Muslims, Sikhs against everyone, and every other combination you can think of.
At the beginning of 2017, India had an estimated 130 nuclear warheads, up from 110 the previous year, according to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute.
Pakistan had approximately 140 nuclear warheads in 2017, up from 120 to 130 a year earlier. However, Pakistan has more plutonium-production reactors than India and the capability to produce up to 20 nuclear warheads a year.
When Chinese invaded Tibet they (People's Liberation Army) also captured Aksai Chin which was part of Ladakh (a district in Jammu & Kashmir), 1.2 million Tibetans were killed under Chinese rule. Because of its strategic importance. Aksai Chin is situated at high altitude and is closer to Delhi making china a immediate threat to India's sovereignty.

I see on rt Indian dudes parading around with a part of an american made missile that shot down an Indian plane, i don't know what to make of that... i still think Saudi MBS had something to do with bombing in India. Bin laden probably died in 2001 he was pretty sick anyway.
