smiley963: Yes we all require love, sometimes some find self-love enough for them, but generally we need some partner, to share love with, Mental, Emotional, Physical Love.

Are you kind to a cripple begging in the street. If you have kindness there it should logically stretch across all forms of kindness, but does it. Are you kind to strangers, family, friends, loved ones, animals?

Do you forgive anything anywhere, not necessarily immediately either, but eventually yes. Can you at this moment say that you hate no-one, and have forgiven all?

smiley963: True respect is an equal requirement. I tried Buddhism, and found it not my cup of tea, but I did pick up some interesting pointers.
Buddhism is a philosophy, a belief, a school of thought explaining the three universal truths, the four noble truths; and. the noble eightfold path.
Buddhism is the teachings of Gautama Buddha.

Shakyamuni Buddha taught four noble truths: The truths of suffering and the cause of suffering, and the truths of cessation of suffering and the path to the cessation of suffering.

Lama Thubten Yeshe explained
The mental pollution of misconceptions is far more dangerous than drugs. Wrong ideas and faulty practice get deeply rooted in your mind, build up during your life, and accompany your mind into the next one. That is much more dangerous than some physical substance.

Bodhisattva Shantideva wrote, “We all seek happiness, but turn our backs on it. We all wish to avoid misery, but race to collect its causes.” What we want and what we’re doing are in contradiction. Our activities aimed at bringing happiness just cause suffering, misery and trouble. Shantideva goes on to explain how even if we desire to obtain happiness, because of ignorance we usually destroy its cause. We treat the causes of happiness like we would an enemy.

Like getting someone pregnant when you didn’t want to. Buddhism is the voice which plucks you up and tells you how it’ll all work out to be a good thing later. Character building grandad would have called it but then you don’t want to be like the orient with its despots, kamikaze and villages in China that are there one day and gone the next. Life on Earth isnt that expendable.

One things certain always changing. The Persians after Afghanistan wandered into India and spent three months chopping off all the Buddhist Monk's and Nuns heads, burnt all the scriptures destroyed all the Buddhist Temples. Likewise Indonesia was once upon a time great seat of Buddhism. Indeed Indian Buddhist Master Atisha (982-1054 AD) was responsible for reintroducing pure Buddhism into Tibet.
Atisha completed his studies in whats known today as Sumatra, Lord Atisha returned from there to India before traveling to Tibet where he taught the Mahayana to Tibetans. Lord Thong Karpa realized Atisha's teachings, an unbroken linage to this day.
Regardless the idiot Chinese invasion and utter rubbish wheels still turn.
The Karmapa Lama lineage, head of the Karma Kagyu sect of Tibetan Buddhism dates back to time of the Buddha. The 17th Karmapa incarnation is standing in for 14th HH Dalai Lama when he enters the Bardo.

I wouldn't agree the Dharma promises good things later, there many many benefits that arise from engaging in Buddhist practice, like for example meditation, raining in the mad elephant like mind we all suffer ('ed) from, much benefit to not only ones self to all others we caused harm...
Its about listening up and implementing skillful means...etc etc

Universal love for everyone? No, I can not accept it...
Loving by default or loving to make yourself feel good...No...
I have so many feelings why should I suppress them and use only the one that feeds my ego?

A Down syndrome baby cursed itself because of sins committed in a past life and you’re supposed to pity it(or is it empathy or sympathy? The pathy’s sound nicer) . In Buddhism people around you should treat you like you’ve done wrong if you’re disabled that there’s something to forgive because you’ve cursed yourself with bad energy.

More than this Hinduism punishes the son for the sins of the father for certain and Buddhism is not exactly free from this. The cosmos might make your child sick as a means to punish you.

Sometimes a little knowledge about a subject can be worse than no knowledge.
The law of karma cannot be understood or comprehended by just a passing interest.
It can take years of intense study to become aware of the way the complex law of karma affects us all. It certainly isn't something that can be looked up online or read about in a few books to be able to have any understanding of, or any valid opinion on

I suppose it’s the ends justify the means, whatever you’ve got is what you deserve therefore if you’re spoilt and entitled karma says you earned it - driving at the real reason for the western infatuation with the east - but if you inherit winter then you too deserve it.

And it makes sense in a way because it’s not like you can time travel to another where people never had it so good. It’s just that the karmic entitlement of never had it so good will lead to living beyond your means and taking the credit for what isn’t yours until you live your whole life on credit.

I contend that the now generation and new age beliefs exaggerate the cycles - greater credit with bigger debt, larger booms and deeper busts because it plunders the moment for what it’s worth. That passive stagnant response to the outside world motored by your own sense of self-satisfaction seems to be a blank cheque and a violation of the most human desire of all - building a better life for your kids.

New age beliefs make perfect sense if you’re planning a comfortable life where you leave your society much worse than you found it.

You're kind of along the right lines here...but...

The problem is, the Western mind likes to apply logic to all things, when logic doesn't apply, the Western mind becomes uncomfortable.
In terms of a Downs Syndrome child having 'deserved' it's condition due to actions in a previons life. This is the kind of confusing statement Glen Hordle came out with some years ago causing great public outrage, and understandably so.
In my opinion, Downs Syndrome children generally live very happy and loving lives and that would be more likely due to a loving and kind mind in a previous life....karma isn't a punishment. In fact, the parents of such children would be feeling the effects of their own karma with regards to their way of dealing with such a situation.

that sounds over complicated to my mind
try interpreting the english word karma as describing our nature as moving energy that carries the seeds of our tomorrows, just like the bible says as you sow so shall you reap and they will, whether we understand or not.
Put another way, our activities the seeds created by good deed, bad or indifference as the right conditions arise, the seed will certainly ripen.

The word karma simply put, just means action. For every action, including action of the mind, there is a reaction.
It can be very simple...to an aware mind.
