SCAMMERS (19)

Mar 14, 2019 2:24 PM CST SCAMMERS
I am tired of scammers. What impression do i give in my profile? Where have i gone wrong? I dont earn 75,000 to 100,000 a year like many? My work pay all the bills few coffee a year.
Why do they keep on contacting me?
Are scammers so desparate or picking on broke singles? Change of strategy?
Anyone else going through this experience .....?
it too often now ....
ffffff ....

Scammers are everywhere and after many things. Your bank details , obviously. Your e.mail details, they sell this ..like fast. Your mobile number, like gold for spam.
If they don't want any of the above they are usually only fit for online games to try and get kicks.
Never feel bad about blocking them....I don't xx

We all do Honi, but cheer up .
Before you answer any messages, check their profiles
Red flags in those profiles are:
- Widowed
- working abroad ,often Engineers
- have children, but they live far away
- poorly English
- Mostly they are very god fearing
- using often the word My dear
- spouse died in a car accident
- Asking money ( obvious)
- .............

I would like to add 'look for inconsistencies or lack of coherency in profiles'.
Scammers will typically lie about anything if not everything. They don't really bother how plausible their story is. Since scammers often operate multiple profiles, they will most probably contradict their profile information in any follow-up message. Always remember that scammers are sociopaths: they will say (and lie about) anything to please.
Moreover: scammers are a tiny minority on CS even if they account for a (blatant) majority of opening messages.

Are there any 'positive discrimination signs' a person is NOT a scammer?
- He/she has been active on forums or blogs
- He/she has been bored some times and started playing on-line games on CS (there are plenty to choose from)
- He/she has been posting music or vlogs
- He/she has enlisted on groups and has been posting there.

Yes I get contacted by scammers all the time. it is a business for them it's nothing personal. They're just trying to make some money. It is hard for me not to prejudice people I meet online because almost everyone that contacts me is a scammer but I still believe there are a few good people out there who sincerely want to meet somebody and who can tolerate the abuse from these people online long enough to meet another sincere person.
Lovely greetings,
Pontus

I share your comment but I have the same experience, it is a shame and immoral.

If you...
...don't fall for "Hello pretty, how are you?" and can easily ignore most of such meaningless messages,
...aren't too desperate and naive to get entangled in too sweet, incoherent and/or illogical and superficial conversation,
...aren't too afraid of "scammers" all the time (because "fear" is a magnet for what you fear ;),
...have a well written profile with a few "checkers" by which you will know (in their first or second message) if they have read it (because they usually never read profiles)
...can use some common sense and good instincts,
...can trust that nothing bad can happen to you if you don't attract/allow it,

....you will have no problem with them even if they try to contact you.....wave

Hello
I wanted to quote you because you expressed perfectly my point of view:
OP thanks for opening this thread, I talked about it also on my thread even if as a secondary effect on marriage offers/seekers.

Except for some of the expat community, English is not our mother tongue in continental Europe.
To those people who have written their profile in their mother tongue rather than in English: do you equally receive messages from scammers? Are there a lot less? How about messages from genuine members, does the use of another language cause any inhibition on their behalf?

Dating should be on live cam. Then there would be less scammers. I personally ask for whatsapp live communication. Scammers can never pass this test. They can not afford to show their faces, so you get stupid excuses.. and you know. We should report their profiles here.

I'm not a scammer, even though i'm widowed and my not so young children live away,so i don't subscribe to that as part of the crieria for being one.I thoroughly agree about the use of Whatsapp and what better than a video call.Better still, like one lady i met,was to meet in a public area for lunch.Nothing better than a face to face chat.

Scamers are completely stupid
And you can end the agony if you make a video call.

You can first check their pictures with "google images". Drag the picture there and in 90%of the cases you can see where they have stolen picture from .
Most of them claim to be engineers on board of a ship and ask for email as they dont have internet all the time. Or on a secret mission in Syria saving lives.. .. see ? Youre not the only one attracting scammers..haha. Good luck and f..k them all

Hi
I have the same problem...i met 80 scammers in 18 months....most of them engineers and military....i check every detail...
Even a daughter of one writing me her Dad died and he is still active online.....within 7 to 10 days asking for money....to be with you....Most of them are from African countries with fake profiles... i lost $26000 to a Nigerian gang and i also keep asking why me? They are always engineers or military....widowed in a terrible way....are pretending they are wealthy.....are God fearing....their English is filled with grammatical errors.....they have always an excuse for no phone or video call . Remember i am from The Netherlands and if my English is better than the English of an American or someone who's first language is English then be Alarmed.
I still keep believing there are good people out there. Don't believe their sweet name calling and love lines.....and know if they realize thst there is no money to get they will get frustrated and angry and call you bad names like they called me an a**hole. Just don't talk to them when you find out they are scammers...block them...report them....delete them and move on....Try to turn your feelings off......stay strong......Good luck.

The scammers are easilly recognizable: the age they are looking for is 18- 99, they are usually widowers and they use fake photos of handsome white men.doh rolling on the floor laughing

I am an expert on Scammers, for more than 10 years I have been reporting them and helping (mostly) women. Stange but the poorer they are, like asians, the more desperate they are and will ask for money from the whole family to help their so called "husband" that they have never met. You can alsu use Google pictures to see if it is a photo used often on the internet. But with the motto "to good to be true" is correct, it is NOT true, that will be a scammer. Anyone not sure, ask me and send something they wrote, I can recognise it within seconds.
