OPTIMISM Vs PESSIMISM - Or the other way round? (134)

Which is better, in your opinion?
Is your glass half full or half empty? dunno

Looking at both ends of the scale, we could look at it as positive, and negative but... is it really?

Both have advantages and disadvantages and most people are not at either extreme, but fall somewhere between.

Optimists might be good starters and will persevere regardless of obstacles, but may not stop when they should have.

Pessimists may not start at all, overcome by difficulties before they start. However, once they get started and achieved success, this fuels their confidence to carry on.

It is most widely thought that optimists are non-realists, which they can be if their perception of reality is distorted but, If you are an optimist based on realism, you are more likely to succeed.

As for Pessimists, they are more accurate about reality.

Research has shown that optimism is correlated with many positive life outcomes, including increased life expectancy, general health, better mental health, increased success in sports and work etc. and better-coping strategies when faced with adversity.

Life coaching behavioral techniques may not necessarily involve teaching people “optimism”, but instead, just reducing pessimism.

Everything is more heroic when you’re doomed, the English are never happier than when we are doomed it’s one reason taking the piss is a national pastime in this country like no other. We like the challenge of pessimism where optimism is cowardice. The American way of doing things - confidence-boosting lies and unbelievable flattery to create a fodder of positivite energy - would give us diabetes.

Being a realist would serve you best (sometimes confused with pessimist).

I say English when I’d attribute the whole British Isles with a superhuman need to take the piss. Things always likely to become a bit too real, but in a silly way.

Optimism is tightly attached to realism for me...
Hoping and dreaming are wishful thinking...
When you throw a dose of dare and determination, hard work and will, then you can have a real possibility to feel optimistic...

There are low levels of self-seriousness and strange belief in Britain and that’s the sensible. Too real to be that optimistic yet how do you face life without believing in total shit? Turn it into a joke. Silly and sensible is the result and that’s basically the British.

Its something you get better at as you get older. Extreme optimism/pessimism tend to be in their own bubbles so to speak, not truly open to each situation as it truly presents itself. Trying to "keep it real" gives you a chance to respond according to what the situation is. Sometimes things turn out ok and you celebrate it, sometimes things turn to shit, you say "fk" and then move on from there. It keeps you grounded into reality.

I don't share a lot of serious thought here because this place to me is a place to unwind and have fun so I'm usually posting mindless nonsense but in my own way, I do have lots of serious thoughts on stuff.

I know you do because I've read some of your comments.
I do like this side of you though!

I realise we also need some fun blogs...instead of all the political ones.
