On New Year's, my friend and I decided to make trips to go see concerts around Europe.

This weekend, we went to Berlin to see Post Modern Jukebox.
It was fabulous spending the weekend roaming the city and then going to a packed concert. We jumped on the plane this morning and were back home in a blink!

What up coming concerts do you know of in your country (or elsewhere) that you would recommend? And suggestions for concerts this year??

Maybe you might get a surprise visitor or two!!

It’s one of the great desert water systems of the world. Spanning three states and a territory, the Lake Eyre basin is a marvel.

A site displaying satellite images of the progress of flood waters heading into Lake Eyre that is certainly worth a look:

But it’s also one of the driest parts of the country. On the rare occasion when flood waters make their way to such barren areas the results are spectacular.

While many tourists flock to central Australia to see the sight of water flowing through the desert rivers and arriving at Lake Eyre, or Kati Thanda as it’s known by the land’s traditional owners, some of the best views of this natural wonder are to be had from space.

Piecing together months’ worth of satellite imagery, we tracked flood waters for hundreds of kilometres on its journey from the Top End to the lowest natural point of Australia: Lake Eyre.

Queensland floodwaters flow to outback South Australia and Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre

"Heavy rain during early February across the upper part of the Diamantina catchment in Queensland resulted in major flooding," the BOM said.

"River levels continue to rise in the Diamantina River from the South Australia border and into the Goyder Lagoon.

Wow!! That was spectacular graphics and photos! That would definitely be a once in a lifetime experience.

I can relate to the return of all the wildlife. I've been watching the migrating birds return the past two weeks.

Thanks for pointing out that events don't need to be music related. I welcome any suggestions!

(I'd like to visit Australia and New Zealand... if I could get over the idea of the 18 hour flight...)

Actually, a reasonably scheduled concert headlining Breaking Bemjamin, just finished over this past weekend.

I went. I still enjoyed Skillet, much more than the headliner. Fight the Fury and Underoath weren't all bad either.grin

Yes, Pek pointed this out. I checked his tour schedule... late summer he crosses over to Europe visiting Spain, France, Germany and Slovakia of all places.

Can't believe the mad man is over 70 years old! One would think that screaming like that would have destroyed his voice long, long ago.

Thanks! I looked up the season concert schedule.
Holst's Planets are a favorite of mine! I have heard and performed various portions of the suite. Mars and Jupiter are tops, of course.

About the orchestra though... have you seen them? It looks like it is predominately women... and you may guess that I am biased against female orchestra performers. Men have more attack and power in their sound. (Same stands for female singers too... Modern female singers don't use their voice correctly and lack authentic power in their voices.)

Would it be worth the $30-$100/ticket??
(Not to mention the $18,000 first class plane ride there??....)

Daniela,
I was sitting on my back porch this morning watching the sunrise while listening to Einaudi's "The Earth Prelude". I was wishing for a good piano concert...

Spain isn't too far away! I'd love to come visit you!! You don't need to put on a show for me. We could just stroll around and talk about horses and lovely nature.
conversing

By the way, this song goes through the colors of the sunrise....darkness, orange, yellows and into blue... it is very invigorating, in a slow, strong and steady method, just as a sunrise is.

Thanks Sawdust!!
I checked out the play list for Rock Werchter. and saw the group "The 1975". That's a great year!! (I'm a 1975 baby.)

I"m looking at a Jazz festival in England in early July, so this festival would fit into our schedule... It's been added to the list.
Thanks!!

Anyone else interested in going too??

I see that it is the 24-28 October and that the Anchorman Jazz Orchestra is scheduled.

There is music all over the city that weekend (public holiday on the Monday) . But usually the bigger bands play in the Opera House.
