I am totally in favour of assisted suicide. If someone you love is in unbearable pain and will never recover, nobody should say they should have to live like that if they want to die.
However, I do think it is better if the patient makes it clear in a statement, when they are compos mentis, that this is their wish. Otherwise, the deaths should be fully investigated.

I agree with this Molly.
In this case today...the man had a video recording of what his wife said and she was fully conscious when she said it.
So now the video has been shown in court as evidence.

YOu are so extremist, Is not arrested now, he pass 24 hours in jail while police researchs and do their job, there is some things that reduce their punishment, maybe he gets 6 month which means that will no go to jail, and has a strong posibility of get the indult. He and she know how is the law here and all the authanasia process was recorded because she was court officer and knows what to do. He is in house already. RIP
daniela777: The man in question hasn't even got time to mourn his wife as he has to answer all kinds of questions before his trial.
That's sad. I know what it is like to be on the deciding end of a DNR but it has to be much worse for this guy where others bring their ignorant moral codes to bare on him.

I didn't say he was now but.. He had been and was released again yesterday.
After giving her an overdose of sodium pentobarbital, he called the police and was arrested, but found not guilty of homicide and released yesterday, a day later.

daniela777: A 70-year old man was recently arrested for having assisted his terminally ill wife to suicide.
She had suffered from MS for 30 years and the last few months had become for her unbearable, during which time her husband had been the sole carer.
After giving her an overdose of sodium pentobarbital, he called the police and was arrested, but found not guilty of homicide and released yesterday, a day later.
Because of the upcoming elections, this case has become politicized.
However, there are many such cases - not only in Spain - but worldwide.
What are your views on this? Someone dying in diginity.... or... perhaps persuaded to die for inheritance?
Very difficult questions to be considered...
Please feel free to discuss.
To me, the question is very very simple.
Do we want a society in which the murder of innocent people is sometimes ok, depending on the circumstance?
