Friskyone: Do you agree or disagree with teachers who protest?
Whether it be for higher incomes, and/or less amount of students per classroom, and/or more funding for schools and education.
Or is there a different approach that the teachers should/could address their issues?
Teachers are humans too.with children, mortgages, debt, etc.
They do an important job, often in difficult circumstances. They shouldn't be forced to strike for good conditions, but if they need to, then they should.

I agree. I believe the teachers have first tried other ways to meet their needs and when that didn't work, they were pretty much forced to go to the extent of striking. I hope it works out for all of them. They work very hard and deserve all their needs to be met.

And a lot of teachers spend their own money on school supplies
Most Teachers in the US have become over paid Democrat party lackeys, who's main interest is indoctrinating young impressionable minds with the liberal agenda. Especially at the college level.
One of the most important jobs that we have... And now... teachers have a chance to be shot at while educating children? ... How many classrooms are being filled with non english speaking children... Teachers should not have to buy their own supplies...

It is true. Teaching is a very important occupation and you are right, they are in a high risk position. And no, they shouldn't have to buy their own supplies, especially knowing that they are underpaid but that just goes to show their passion for the kids and ensuring the education of the kids. Kudos to them!

... I know... My Mom retired from a elementary school... things have changed, she might be shocked at the classrooms now... ...
I do not care if teachers protest. That’s even cute. However I think the entire public school systems in the USA should be trashed, rewired and operate realistically in how they produce the end product... educated graduates. I’ve been debating forever, it seems, with unhappy teachers in Michigan presently wanting more money and benefits. We all want moe money. The public schools here today can operate a lot more efficiently. They could probably cut their operating budges in half and still produce the same quality product imho.

And I saw on my local news station a couple of days ago, talking on the education issues and the interviewer asked the school's president what his annual salary was...$300,000. She then asked him if he would take a pay cut to help with the budget. His response was "everything is on the table".

I wish they would put everything on the table, including the number and redundancy of administrators (and support staffs), swimming pools, tennis courts, dance floors, huge gymnasiums and stadiums, ice skating rinks etc. I even question the mandatory continuing education for teachers in Michigan. Teachers there make good money, but probably not as good as what their retirement incomes turn out to be! And they have huge numbers of perks while teaching and sometimes as much if not more in their golden retirements. Sadly, there is a big picture out there that escapes most people today. Rant over.

Well... the firefighters want to strike here, they have their wives on tv, telling us that $80,000 per year, with lifetime retirement and full benefits... is not enought for a starting pay? Now, know body wants to work for less that $40,000 a year... ...

Not that I can blame them, but public employees have it good today.

From what I understand, the cost of living there is high and they risk their lives putting out fires, even cancer causing. $40,000 is not a lot of money considering the living cost and the life of a human. Their jobs are VERY difficult too.

In my country, teachers, who are already very well paid, and who get 10 weeks of paid holidays every year, are always demanding more money and going on strike to get it. They're like pigs at a trough!
But having said that, there may at times be legitimate things to protest about. I do, however, dislike teachers using their pupils as political pawns (as we saw recently with the climate change protests).
