I want to buy fog lights for my car but after standing in front of rows of them for a half hour I came to the conclusion I don't know how to pick them out. Does anybody know what's best, the ultra white or the yellow...and what's with the different shapes? Does the kind of car you have matter or are fog lights universal...Help!frustrated

most are universal. white will be brighter at night yellow is better in fog. shape matters on where you will bolt them in. find the shape thatll fit the bumper or front fascia closest

front faschia is a term for a bumper cover. most new cars are just plastic front ends that cover a steel bumper beneath. trucks still use visible bumpers. just need to figure out where you want them and get a shape that fits an existing opening or that youll like to hang down off the front of the car. best advice talk to someone who works with cars to walk you trough it and possibly install them

then you want Amber(yellow)lights, white light usually causes a refraction on fog that illuminates everything but what you want illuminated.

Yeah I think you may be right, I thought this would be an off the shelf purchase but it appears it's a little more complicated than I anticipated...

I don't know what they look like but the closets would be the formed holes in the front of the molding. If they are round then you would usually want round. If they are oval then oval or possibly square

That's what I thought...especially for the snow but most of them are 'ultra white' claiming to be new and improved.

One last point if I may. Whether you install them or someone else please be courtious of others. Make sure they point where they should and not into the eyes of oncoming traffic.

I try to do what I can myself when it comes to car repairs and maintenance but this one I will be definitely getting some help with. Funny you should mention where they point. My lights on the car now when in the fog or rain seem to have two extra beams pointing up to the sky like the outside arms of a 'W" but the mechanic says they are fine...drives me nuts.

thats the pattern of the beam. the reflective lense inside creates a halo look from the lights. the main focus of the beam is most likely in the right direction. trust the man im sure they are fine.

Oh okay...that makes sense. They actually fit into the bumper...I guess I'll be on the ground tomorrow to check out that bumper and see if I can find the preformed holes.

It was freaking me out. I mean when you're driving in bad weather and there are bright lights pointing to the heavens...I could almost hear the voice..."come into the light"uh oh
