How often do we have to deal with others, finding out that your moral standards are vastly different. You might feel that you have very high standards, but so do they, until it comes to the punch and you are getting undercut...

You ask for decency, but get low classed tendencies. You answer questions with honesty, just to find out that your answers are being cleverly by-passed, or half answered, just the basics, "they are just protecting their privacy", and you want to know so what about yours, but obviously the same does not apply.

Are these double standards in your book, and if not what are yours...

I am totally for protecting my privacy. If someone doesn't care about their, well, it's their business.

Double standards exist and a lot of women are master manipulators, so a lot of the time, they get away with criminal actions, that no men would....women get much less jail time, than a man, for committing the same crime and many don't even serve any jail time at all...double standards...I could talk much more about female privilege...but I will leave folks to chew on this for a while and look into it if they have any doubtswink

You either have morals or you don't, anything in between is just a character...

aries1234: Call me old fashioned , but i believe in the old moral standards, and honesty. Although i realise that some people pay lip service to these standards, and seem to be blind to their own failings, we are all human but we can try to live up to these and pass them on to our children
is there any point in supposedly getting to know someone based on a false story?...nope there isn't....you don't know anything about the person and it takes away your right to decide based on real info....not to mention there goes honesty right out the window....who wants to start anything based on that?....wave

thumbs up
i would add...you can't get to know someone beyond what they are willing to reveal. if they don't feel safe enough to be themselves and transparent in a relationship.... then there really is no relationship.

I agree with what you said, people shwing a tendency to lying and denial are a red flagwave

I agree...its based totally on falsehood....I guess people have to decide whats more important...privacy or letting someone know you and if privacy is more important then you don't want to pursue anything with me that bad....so don't bother....wave

hiya pKrema wave

could you explain this a bit? (thank you)
my understanding is that morals are a set of values of a particular group at a particular time. and that these values will be different depending on the group and the time.

Even just acquaintanceship , friendship, etc...
If there is no honesty between the two parties...nothing is possible...
What do they have to hide that is so serious...is the question...
