Google: Maslow believed people move through different stages of five needs that motivate our behaviour. He called these needs physiological, safety, love and belonging (social), esteem, and self-actualization. Maslow believed each stage of need had to be met before progression to the next stage of need could occur.
I had a T-Shirt where self-actualization for women is "Chocolate"!

5. Self-actualization needs - realizing personal potential, self-fulfillment, seeking personal growth and peak experiences. A desire “to become everything one is capable of becoming”(Maslow, 1987, p. 64).

Mostly in countries survival mode is catered for by the governments...thus no-one really need to be too concerned, except if you find yourself in the middle of somewhere, with not even drinking water available...

Ideally everyone need a course in "How to achieve your basic standard of living". So many kids marry straight out of school, from a middle class up bringing, and find themselves with not even the basics, as jobs are scarce and some don't even have the will to work for a living, after the parents provided all, and move back to their parents, to provide. Note: Not all parents will humour this for very long, and urge them to find a job asap, which might not be available at all, as they have hardly any qualifications.
