Wikipedia: The term numerologist can be used for those who place faith in numerical patterns and draw pseudo-scientific inferences from them, even if those people do not practice traditional numerology.

I once saw people being fixated on seeing the same (pattern) time on their electrical clocks...or noticing certain combinations of numbers...where-ever...or going to the casino...and using pattern matching...in gambling...it works for some...but not regularly...thus cannot be used to really generate and income as some believe...
Numerology is like Astrology...lots in common...and people blindly believing in it...to use it as an alarm is maybe not a bad idea...but don't use it like a religion...
I have a book on numerology on the bookshelves reserved for religion and superstition. I think astrology may have some basis in biorythms (the stars were the clocks) and other recurring patterns my opinion of numerology is not that high. But I would like to point out that when rocket-scientist worship started after WWII numbers started being assigned to most curious (and unsupportable) things. I'd say there are a lot more numerologists than you think. Guessing statistics and assigning probability on that basis is as much numerology as thinking 7 is a lucky number.
I don't put any credence in patterns of numbers and I don't notice them either....I used to read this spiritual website and all kinds of people were attaching meaning to these numbers and so called signs and making decisions based on them.....when really all the signs were showing them was the meaning they chose to attach.....

Between a statistics degree and complicated algorithm my mate lives off the introductory rates on gambling websites. And lives well. I've always wondered how he does it.
