The United States Census is a population count carried out in the United States every 10 years since 1790, under a mandate from the Constitution. The results of the Census are used in a variety of ways, ranging from the allocation of Congressional seats to determinations about federal funding. The goal of the United States Census is to count every single person in the United States, and to gather basic statistical information about the people living and working in the United States.

Along with counting citizens, the United States Census also covers legal residents and illegal immigrants. It includes the homeless, people in institutions, and other people with unusual housing arrangements. Due to concerns about confidentiality, specific census information is kept sealed for 72 years, although general United States Census data is available immediately. This confidentiality measure is designed to encourage people to respond to Census forms without fear of legal consequences

What are your thoughts about the census? I didn't make it poll questions for obvious reasons..NON CITIZENS would vote doh

Here are some examples conversing

I never answer the census

I answer everything truthfully. The government needs to know.

I answer some of the questions, not all

It is none of their damn buisness

Don't they have enough information on us already?

Something shady is going on

Why should Santuary cites and states get more government money and more representation?

I don't think this current controversy is about Illegals.. at all.

Why is there a controversy? The law is the law.

Lost in this partisan uproar is that a citizenship question has appeared in some form or another on censuses throughout our history. Indeed, it was only REMOVED ENTIRELY IN 2010 BY President OBAMA , and its roots stretch deep into the founding era. It’s worth detailing the history to dispel all the false narratives.

A question about citizenship was proposed for the first time in 1800 by Thomas Jefferson, who advocated for an inquiry into “the respective numbers of native citizens, citizens of foreign birth, and of aliens.” His straightforward reason for wanting such a question was “for the purpose of more exactly distinguishing the increase of population by birth and immigration.” Jefferson got his wish just two decades later, when a version of his question appeared on the census of 1820, which asked how many “foreigners not naturalized” lived in each household.
The citizenship question recurred multiple times from 1820 to 1890. And from 1890 to 1950, it appeared on every census. Since then, it has been included on every long-form census questionnaire from 1970 to 2000. To this day, the question is still asked on the American Community Survey, an annual supplement to the decennial census. The citizenship question is not a new concept; it is the restoration of common sense.

The Constitution requires a census every 10 years, and it is essential that census be an accurate count of the total population. Given how the states and federal government use the census, it is absurd to suggest that count should not consider the number of U.S. citizens and non-citizens in the country. After all, the census is used to draw congressional districts and assure the voters of each state are adequately represented in Congress. So, we are talking about information that has been collected throughout most of our history and is critical to the very core democratic protections of the Constitution.

If the highest estimates of illegal aliens is 21-30 million. And they broke the law to get here... WHY would all those invaders, tell the truth? confused It defies logic, imo.

I filled out the paper and mailed it back. Wasn't hard being one person here.
It said that it's the Law to do it, so I did.
Nor sure why they had to know my roots though.

It is creepy as hell. Between the census and eventually DNA swabs, (in mandatory testing for alledged virus), they will have everything about everyone and who is related to whom.

Trump Signs Order Excluding Illegal Immigrants From Census

Both sides are ridiculous. There is nothing to compel anyone to tell the truth on the census.
