The Morrison government's religious discrimination legislation is the “can that’s constantly being kicked down the road,” according to Professor of Law and Newman College Rector Fr Frank Brennan.

It comes as the Morrison government's bill faces scrutiny from two parliamentary committees after failing to get to a vote in the Parliament.

“It was hoped that it was to be fixed before the last election when everyone went home for Christmas in 2018,” he told Sky News Australia.

“Well, here they are going home for Christmas in 2021, once again hoping that it can be resolved by a parliamentary committee in February and probably, like three years ago, it won’t be.”
