Thousands of bones have been unearthed in two ossuaries discovered in the Vatican City, as part of an ongoing search for clues into the disappearance of a 15-year-old girl more than three decades ago.
Emanuela Orlandi, who was the daughter of a prominent Vatican employee and lived within the walls of the holy city, disappeared in the summer of 1983 while on her way home from a music lesson in central Rome.

#EmanuelaOrlandi,15, last seen, 22 June 1983, when she disappeared after a flute lesson in the centre of Rome. She was last seen at a bus stop.
#MirellaGregori, also 15, disappeared six weeks before Orlandi, in May 1983. The two families have always believed the cases are connected

Portera, the Orlandi family's forensic expert, said "thousands of bones have been found."

"I can't say if it's 1,000 or 2,000, but there are really very many, and so we assume the presence of the remains of a few dozen people," Portera said. "There are long bones, small bones, many are fragmented."

Portera added that the bones were found mixed together and not sorted.

"They were all piled up inside a cavity,” he added.

Its a great pity General Freyberg and his forty thousand thieves were not routed past it , he would have had it bombed flat like he did Monte Casino , just to hold the Germans interest in fighting for the ruins as they did at Casino , would have done the world a favor
