Yeah, especially if you hold your breath while they drag out that thing. Looking at it afterwards I couldn't help wonder if wasn't shoved up and all the way in my heart. Ugh
I've been cathed several times. My Urologist, a male, was way more gentle than the 20 something female nurse who did me post op one time. I thought she was trying to get back at men for all the grief she got from her BF. I remember one time saying to my Uro, "At times like this I wish I was a woman." "No you don't he said, they have a smaller opening than a man." My recollection was it was less painful coming out than going in.
I also have been catheterized four times. Each time was when I had surgery under general anesthesia. The body still has to urinate under anesthesia so to avoid pee going all over the operating table the catheter is used. I didn't feel the tube going in nor coming out and I was always awake when that happened.
As a former nurse, and having placed and taken out a few catheters, as well as once having one myself, I'll say they did something wrong, if it hurt when it was being taken out, as it shouldn't hurt going in or out. Maybe you offended the nurse in some way that he/she pulled it out so it would hurt.
