In general you should be able to spot a fake profile, but that said sometimes they can be so convincing, but my basic tip, is - always take everything said with a big pinch of salt, and always wait for the 2nd shoe to drop, because it always does........
Recently been chatting (for 3 months) to a stunning girl, (why on earth would she be interested in me!!) and in the end yes you have it, was asked for a loan of 15,000 euros!!! (Of course with a promise to pay me back, once they had returned to this country!)
Now does anyone not think this odd?

How about this one: This dude lives in between zone 1 and 2 in London. He's visiting Greece and wants to meet me. His sister whom he's staying with is on the other side of the city so he decides to take the metro to my suburb. Great! I met him at the metro and since the beach is very near, I suggested we have our morning coffee at a beach cafe...It's so beautiful in the mornings! NOPE, he hasn't come prepared. WHAT? Maybe he feels his attire isn't appropriate...An ironed white shirt, casual slacks and as I looked at his shoes, it seemed very odd that his sandles were not buckled. The straps were just hanging open like when you slip them on to go to the WC....
I convinced him that he looked perfectly fine, casual as I was too. He wouldn't budge! No beach cafe, he wanted to go across the BUSY intersection to a dirty little corner coffee shop, full of people, noisy and well, just not nice. I explained and very kindl tried to convince otherwise but no...not gonna happen. Then he explained that he didn't come prepared and wanted to go to MY house for coffee.
My mind was racing and my blood pressure rising! Me, being blatantly blunt said " Do you actually think I would take a man I just met 5 minutes ago to my home? Would you advise your sister to do that? I can't believe you would actually expect that.
Are people crazy? So...I asked him what exactly is the problem at which time he finally admitted he didn't have enough money for a coffee.
What can I say? A scammer, fraud or just a very stupid man? You decide.They probably want to sell it, so don't get your ego too inflated. It's all about money. Nothing more. 
Take everything with a pinch of salt, as not everyone is who they say they are.
There are a lot of fraudsters on here so careful, who you talk to folks.
