User's cancelling and reactivating accounts (24)
jf1972: Hi all.
I was hoping someone could help by explaining to me why some user's cancel and activate their accounts. I have seen this a lot in my area sometimes a user will cancel and activate their account several times a day. If anybody has any thoughts maybe you could help me out.

example ,, I currently have a couple staying on holiday with me and last week ordered a take away 28.90 euro ok I thought that's expensive,, but then they didn't even eat it,,,,

I don’t know if anybody else has been neighboured with a cat lady, but one time the ball went over the fence and we never heard the end of it. She seemed to enter what can only be described as a siege mentality. To me the male equivalent is believing you’re the main focus of government or alien attention.
One explanation could be the fixation on privacy from the people who attract no one. Or maybe she’s married.

I think they just close down for awhile not cancel, you can do that.
I have cancelled account before for a complete break, then when rejoining had to use different handle. REDEX turned to EXRED

I guess the main reason is that people don't want to get too much mail. When the profile is hidden, they can't receive mail.

They're hiding their profile when they feel a need to do so whether it's to take a break or to avoid someone or whatever reason only they know. Or, maybe they just like playing peek-a-boo with folks....who knows. I was hoping someone could help by explaining to me why some user's cancel and activate their accounts. You can cancel your profile and reactivate it, cancel your profile and create a new one, or you can 'hide' and 'unhide' your profile.
I suspect you're noticing the people who 'hide' their profiles when they are offline.
If you hide your profile when offline no one can send you mail, so for most people it's a way of avoiding coming back to loads of scammer mail every time they log in.
Some people may be hiding a less than honest profile, some may be worried about their account being hacked, some people may be concerned about being discovered on a dating site. There may be as many reasons as there are people, but I think it's mostly about the scammer mail.
