Tulefell: I had quite a few very good holidays, but I like to believe that the best one is yet to come: kinda sad to think that everythingbest is in the past.
You come across as a kayaking soul. Ever tried?
Yup, down a river somewhere in Southern Africa. Kayaking is like marriage, it's more enjoyable when you're in sync with your rowing partner.

Tried two-man kayak once: was ready to commint homicide in five minutes after departure by beating the next man to death with my paddle. Said: never more.

Paddling single ever after :)
You sound like a lot of fun to go kayaking with Tulefell!
There are two bests. Both were Christmas morning. One when I was about 8 years old and received a crenolyn (sic). It's layers and layers of netting you put under your skirt to make it fuller.
The second was about 10 years ago when my daughter gave me an original photograph of Marilyn Monroe running on the beach.
You take what you get and make the best of it. Holidays haven't turned out to be the Norman Rockwell thing with family and kids and grandkids. Not the way I planned it when I was young, but that's the way it is. I think you just make the best out of the hand you were dealt. I'm always kind of glad when the holidays are over though I appreciate the meaning on the day.
