Didn't Trump promise to bring manufacturing jobs back to the Midwest by clawing back production from China? I find it ironic that Trumps nemesis, Barrack Obama, bailed out GM only to have the Trumpet stick a knife in it.
GM is eliminating all 1,700 hourly positions, perhaps for good, at the factory near Youngstown, the first of five North American auto plants that it intends to shut down by early next year.

The other plants slated to close this year are assembly plants in Detroit and Oshawa, Ontario, and transmission plants in Warren, Mich., and near Baltimore.

Oh hey, I got an idea, maybe GM can build a plant in Greenland after Trump buys it .rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

The vehicles the plants are making are not selling , what would you do , tax money making plants to support these ones ? Its one thing to keep plants open when there is a problem like when Obama took over , a very different matter to keep plants open when there is high employment . There is currently 6 million job openings in the US that employers can't find trained people for , these people will get work if they want it .

Obama bailed out GM and propped up select union retirement accounts to buy votes. GM put it self in that situation by allowing unions to take advantage of them and an overall poor business model. The lousy business model persist today. Hence the reason for closing plants and the associated job losses.
GM, Unions and Democrat vote buying are to blame.

By imposing tariffs on Chinese imports and promising unemployed blue collar workers that this will bring manufacturing back to the US and they will get their jobs back. This induced people all across the country who were trying to feed their families and not wind up homeless to vote for him out of desperation. It was actually a pretty clever tactic. Of course it didn't work, all it did was start a trade war.

No need to insult someone you disagree with. I could say, based on the % of subjects you talk about on here, Trump is living rent free in your brain as well.

You asked "what would you do?" I would do what GM has been doing every year since the early 50's. I would switch to a different model which the public IS buying. They are very experienced at that task, it's almost a no brainer for them.
