I am currently discovering an ancient European city on my own. For this type of 'city trip' travelling solo has many advantages. Have you ever travelled solo on a long holiday?
I have travelled solo... it doesn't take long to meet others and you can make longtime friends. Rather than miss the adventure.. .it's often the start of something new.

But surely you've either discovered it or you haven't. I think that by the time you have established it is a City, you are entitled to say it has been discovered.

Is it necessary to be pedantic? It's quite obvious the gentleman meant exploring.

I have not tried a long holiday by myself yet, I have gone on short trips and found by myself I can move at the pace I want and enjoy things more. I don't like to rush through life, I am the one who you will see standing staring at a painting soaking everything in whilst others are wondering if I have turned to stone Enjoy your time

Yeah I have. If you want to go somewhere, just do it. There are fabulous places to go in the world. It would be a shame to not see them because you are waiting for a non-existent person to go there with you.
I go on 2-weeks sun holiday every late autumn / early winther. For the last 6 years I did it on my own and plan to it this year as well. There's advantages and disadvantages in this setting, as in any other.
I wouldn't want, though, make a "sity trip" alone.
I used to many moons ago, but airports and different countries in todays climate are daunting to say the least. Plenty singles on arranged tours these days and safer for me that is.
felixis99: NYC has Penn Station? Why so does Phila. ;)
It sure does. They were both built by the Pennsylvania Railroad. The one in NYC is 3 levels underground, underneath Madison Square Garden. It serves all the Amtrak trains to and from NYC, the Long Island Railroad, and New Jersey Transit trains.
