The human propensity to view the past as superior to the present has often been pointed out by philosophers since ancient times, and the validity of this view has just as often been called into question. Consequently, the current cliché is often used ironically or sarcastically. Its counterpart, dating from about 1930, is the bad old days, signifying a less sentimental view of the past.

good old days

back in an earlier time which everyone remembers as a better time, even if it really wasn't. Back in the good old days, during World War I, they used real cactus needles in record players. The good old days didn't start until they had indoor bathrooms.

In the good old days if a man used the F word while talking to other men and he then realized there was a woman in hearing distance he actually said......excuse me ma'mn, I didn't see you there.

Very different from what we have on CS isn't it sigh

I kinda think of it ....that many are just venting things in their real world that are not going their way.

A few weeks ago, I had a man come in and throw his pack of cigarettes at me..I told him I was not his trash can.....He went off on me---called me a fword b*tch...and to never fword give him my attitude again...This was not the first time he had thrown his trash at me...I just replied back to him...I am sorry you feel that way...hope you feel like a bigger person now.

The other night, he came in and apologized to me. He told me, he had alot of stressful things going on in his life and took it out on me..

It takes a big person to apologize...

A man is taking a huge chance with being chivalrous anymore (holding doors open for ladies, escorting them to and fro, etc.). Women today (as a rule, but certainly not all) are more likely to rip a man's very existence to shreds for even THINKING they're "in need of protection or care". God FORBID if a man even happens to notice a woman's attractiveness, lest he risk being arrested.

Most women today are constantly screaming about "equality" -- but only if it's convenient and suits them. If it doesn't, they're just as quick to play the 'woman' card.

Chivalry is dead. Feminists killed it.

I worked for a man who said he was afraid to say "you look nice today" because I might charge him with s*xual harassment. That was around 1998 and the term s*xual harassment wasn't thrown around as much as it is today so I thought he was crazy to think that of me.

I see where you are coming from when you say you hesitate to hold a door open for a woman lest she might say......I can do it myself or give you a dirty look which would be rude. Women appreciate it when you hold the door open for us but that doesn't mean that you should be paid twice as much salary as we get for doing the same job. It's not about getting even. It's about doing the right thing.

Equal Rights is not about women being able to hold a door open. It's not about women carrying six grocery bags, a child on one hip and a dog's leash all at the same time. Of course she can do it but it would be nice if a man helped her.

Equal Rights is about women being paid the same salary that a man gets for doing the exact same job. It's about a woman getting the chance for a promotion to a job that a man would get.

It's about being fair.
