That's an incredible list, Galrads. I find etymology a fascinating field... I don't quite have the commitment to study it. And Oceanography... what did you end up doing with that qualification? I am sure there is an interesting story behind that.

I didn’t do much with it I guess but i did combine it weirdly with my bs electrical engineering. work in environmental science for Government environmental agencies from research triangle park in Raleigh Durham NC out to Sonoma California and the Philippines for near 33 years. Was challenging but the work became more politically involved and less science so I got out at a good time.

That's an interesting career. I believe the higher you go and more experienced you become often it turns towards politics... whether it's in-house politics for the place you work for...or politics on a global scale... somehow it just gets more involved over time. Do you ever miss working there?
Yeah, Thanks for asking. I miss a lot about the work and the many challenges in the environmental sciences world but I miss my people mostly. I typically had around seven direct supervisions and more indirectly too. I was lucky to hire people smarter than myself and I never had one union grievance against me. I seldom saw my bosses and I ran whenever I heard mention of a committee forming.
