I didn't get a car until I got a job after high school graduation. I saved and saved and finally bought this beauty. This is the same color of my first car.
When I was 10 I drove a Dodge van with a 3 on the tree a few times around a ranch I lived at one summer. I suppose that was legal. But when I was 12 I would sometimes drive my drunk neighbor around Phoenix in his Chevy Chevette which had a tendency to overheat and stop running until it cooled down. It did that one night and when I pulled over a cop pulled in behind us with his light flashing. I thought I was busted but the cop just asked what was wrong? I said the car overheated and he got back into his car and left. Illegal? Yup.

Now I haven't heard three-on-tree shifter in a long time.
Mrroscoe03: A 1957 Willy's Jeep Wagoneer. 3 speed on the floor. Separate shifts for 2/4 WD & High & Low range... It had no brakes when I learned to drive on it..
Those were cool cars back in the day. Did it have a v-8 engine
Don't remember what kind, just that it was a ford, ( my grandpa's old fishing car).... grandpa is gone, car is long rusted out but I've still got the keys and the memories. Oh I was 12

I was in Junior High school when my brother bought a used one. He went away to college and it was my responsibility to occasionally start the engine and charge the battery. At the age of 14, I drove it in a circuit around the front yard and back yard enough to wear out the grass!
I've been looking at all these cars and notice that my car 1956 Ford at the beginning of the thread is the only one with wide whitewall tires. All the others have narrow whitewall. Even the last picture of that cute little car has narrow whitewalls. Anybody know why my car had the wide whitewall tires.

I think yours are wider because Gangster Whitewalls were quite common in the 50’s unlike other decades.
