when viewing ancient ruins it is often presumed that earth must have been visited by "ancient aliens" of a higher intelligence to have been able to create these incredible phenomena.i am now in my late sixties and in my short lifespan there have been so many incredible advances, discoveries and inventions made that the world is not the same place today that it was when i was much younger and i then wonder - if we could achieve so much advancement in say the past 1,000 years then what was homo sapiens doing 5,10 or 15 thousand years ago.surely they could not just have been waiting for the 20th century with it's technology to arrive. today there is a a strong belief that many of the more famous ruins like the pyramids of egypt, baalbek and much of the ruins in south america were constructed upon a pre-existing site and many of the carvings seem to depict flying craft of one sort or another. i'm not discounting the possibility that there might have been some extraterrestrial intrusion though i cannot surmise as to how or from where but what i am proposing is that maybe there was no need for extraterrestrial intrusion but that early mankind had the knowledge on their own to build these enigmatic structures.
HarbalEsquire: So what exactly are you getting at?
hi harbal esq.compliments of the season.what i'm trying to say is that i can't really conceive the idea of some"one" getting onto a craft, coming all the way to earth, constructing a few enormous buildings from stone and then just leaving and never coming back.could it not be humans on earth at some stage in the past had the knowledge and the means to do these constructions and that somehow or in some way this knowledge was lost. this sounds more conceivable to me
ChesneyChrist: Envy and the evil eye. All the conspiracy theories in the world are conspiring against the phrase “the best man won”. Its a vindictive lack of talent.
Hollywood has birthed a generation that thinks it’s living in a film. It’s primed belief in the fantastic, decimated the ability to tolerate boredom, and created a restless sense of inadequacy over not being a movie star.
Because emasculation is very often not effeminate and is instead hypermasculine. If you’ve done nothing with your life the ability to admit weakness stops completely - like men in prison. It dindu nuffin and this is everybody’s fault but mine.

ChesneyChrist: And why more male than female?

HarbalEsquire: Are you on the right thread, Chesney?
I think that what Chesney is trying to say is that the reason why people would rather believe it was aliens instead of humans, is because nowadays everyone is so lazy they much rather give a sci fi explaination than admit others before them worked hard for what they had, and this is something new generations know nothing about.
mollybaby: Those people had but one material to work with, stone, so it is not surprising that they became master stone masons. They used their knowledge of astronomy and the seasons and weather. They also had a lot of time and patience which meant that they built structures to their gods and demigods which have stood the test of time.
hi molly thanks for your comment so i take it you dismissing all the erich von daniken idea of visitors from outer space then.
hi conrad thanks for you post. i know this guy well from watching the program 'ancient aliens' i think his last name is tsokoulous or something like that. i wish he could involve in this discussion.

Its only been in the last hundred and thirty years that tech has allowed us to do much more than people a few thousand years ago. It wasnt aliens that taught us how to make a steam engine, fly, or split the atom in the space of hundred fifty years.
If i look at the pyramids, i don't see genius. It looks like a massive labour job to build a grave. Something that wasn't very uncommon in other areas.
It seems to lack functionality. The cutting of stone is explained, the transport is explained, even the upward transport is explained. It is amazing what people can do with sand and water.
Aliens is a very possible story too. Aliens maybe can exist, maybe can visit, maybe can build, but then the written data is quite sad. The technological advance is quite sad. DaVinci was 1450, he expected humans were able to fly. If they started developing it 6000 years earlier, i think more was possible. Even any notion of space and such was lacking. So old Egyptians putting rocks together to brag looks like the most plausible and easy explanation.

Ok. Get together some European builders and build a pyramid. It was genius because off the limited knowledge and technology available to them

we don't build pyramids because it is a waste of resources. It is a one million manhour gravestone
