PeKaatje: To start the biggest fraud ever, preaching to the stupid people that would believe his lies.
New International Version 1 Corinthians 2:14 The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.
Read the Gospels. There are only 4 of them. If you don't have a copy, a New Testament is easy to find and quite affordable. If you can't afford it, there are individuals, churches and Bible societies who will fix you up for free.
bodleing2: Maybe, but with the Catholic Church the badness went right down to its roots.
you say ''down to its roots''? the amazing root was ''CHRIST''......the person that can forgive a sin because he is God, the greatest story ever told, he made billions of people ''civil'' and loving, words don't do him justice but we try

Jesus mission was to show people a way to live their life with spiritual well being in mind, showing people a way to live in harmoney with one another, animals and the enviroment.. the preaching crap well thats anyones guess, most likely his words were misunderstood to a degree and have been rewritten in a way to leave enough room for people to make mistakes for themselves..
BUT: I try not to discuss Religion and Politics on the Forums, I have done it years ago, and never ended up with good results....too many different opinions, people get upset, so I will be over >>>>there>>>

Loving words from the Catholic Church? There may have been, but many of their deeds were not so loving, such as.....
Child rapes right up to the present day. The Crusades, the Inquisition The systematic suppression of knowledge and free thought. The conquest of the New World where the cross of Jesus slashed and burned it's way through entire populations. Condemning the printing press as the work of the devil. The first man to translate the bible into English was burned at the stake for his troubles, along with astronomers or free thinkers. They condemned the smallpox vaccine as a violation of God's will. They opposed anesthesia in childbirth because they said, a woman is supposed to suffer as a punishment of Eve's sins. And as for the systematic victimisation of Jews....well I'll let Pat enlighten you on that one....
