I cannot imagine what those thousands of folk will do, no homes nothing left at all, even in places need to stay on coast or by a lake. I truly feel very sad for them, but yes I know feeling sad will not help these poor souls.

They knew the fire was coming towards them weeks ago, they had the chance to leave and save a lot of stuff. By not doing that they acted like an ostrich, they put their head in the sand. How about the koala's kangoeroos etc who didn't know the fire was coming and burned while still being alive. And all these people, why didn't they started a quick course of fire fighting and help the firefighters in stead of waiting to be saved? These are dumbasses.

Those who are ignorant are the dumbest in breds surfing the net.
EXRED: still silly when so many people have lost everything. It is horrendous what I see on news, a holiday would be the last thing on my mind
My trip to NZ was planned last summer, and it was going to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for me, and not just some "holiday" like apparently you can afford to just go off to NZ as if on some sort of a whim anytime you wish. if my disappointment about it being cancelled due to the fires in Australia is something you think is "silly" and that I shouldn't be feeling bad I can't go now because so many ppl lost everything, then according to your logic and proper dainty British upper-crust sensibilities, I reckon that I should also skip a few meals too, because ppl in Somalia are starving.

Sorry noeleena did not mean to cause offence
We on every news channels covers this devastation in Australia, and of course conservationist from Australia are giving their views. Even in my own country after floods (granted not so big as your dilemma) things were said about people waiting for dams, and building should not clear forest lands making flooding worse. So hindsight is a great thing, but what I have noticed when leaders of any country visit devastations its always too late and what good is looking going to do without a plan of action for help for folk.
