Do you really learn from this or just read it and say ya blah, blah, blah?

What are some of the things you have learned from the book?

Most of the morals it preaches are pretty self-evident to me.

Do people really need to be taught these things?

It also seems to be extremely male chauvinistic.

I actually disagree with it on some moral details.

It also contradicts itself as a complete book that is supposed to be about an 'unchanging' god.

(i.e. "An eye for an eye", and then later, "Turn the other cheek")

If god keeps changing his mind when will he change it again?

Well, if what I've learned from the book is that the book seems to contradict itself, then that's what I've learned from the book right?

I'm just answering the question, "What are some of the things you have learned from the book?"

I've actually learned more about contradictions and inconsistencies than anything else.

What can I say? dunno

It's the truth. That's what I've learned from the book. wave

I read it and try to use what I read in my life. A lot was written in parables, they teach morals. I have noticed a lot of people interpet what they read differently, but then again it was written so that it can fit any situation. Some of it is poetry that fills the heart and soul. Some of it is to uplift you in the low times of your life. There are so many things it is to me, it would be so hard to pick and choose certain things. I have read it since I was a child, I find that it helped to form the person I am now and I am still learning from it as I still read from it. I have read it cover to cover many of times. I have even just opened it to any page and found something that fit that day.

New Testament has a lot of distorted stuff about Jesus's life and teachings so I can not stand it. As a spiritual document the Bible is quite empty. It has the idea of the autoritarian god above your head... to me God or the light, or whatever you call it is inside of you.

It seems that each religion has it's own version of the so said good book. This book is written by the hand of man, not the hand of god.
That's probably why it is so contradicting in it's ways.

The poor pumpers just run away completely scared. They are cute but sooooo stupid

Its a great piece of literature. Fabulously written.

Thats all I'll say though, seeing as I'm neither Jewish nor Christian.

I dont read the bible often but do pick it up and read sometimes. I find it helps uplift me and it does teach me.
I also have a childrens version for my daughters and encourage them to read it before bed. I think it assists in teaching the kids morals.
Some of the things i have learned is to hope, believe and have faith. That its ok to forgive. Also, That fears can be overcome, and how to lead by example.
