galrads: Why do some doctors spend more time typing what you say into a computer file instead of discussing why you seeing them?
Maybe its me, but I see this typing thing often.
Hiya Gal Yep, I've noticed this too but nowadays, patient information is kept on computers rather than in thick paper files but that shouldn't take away from the patient doctor experience. My doctor does spend time discussing everything and manages well with inputting information into the computer as he goes along and I like that. I went to a different clinic yesterday and there was barely a word spoken....just tapping away at the computer, writing a few chicken scratch instructions and barely spoke two words to me. Needless to say, I left that clinic feeling more confused and anxious than I was when I first arrived.

You also said that you felt rushed when you got there. This and making you more confused and anxious when you got there tells me it isn't the right medical facility for you and I would be very cautious about taking any medical suggestions they gave you.
Hiya Jo It's so good to see you "in the computer right now"
Well, it appears that this is the only clinic my doctor refers patients to but I will be letting my doctor know how I feel about the way patients are treated there and hopefully I won't be having to go back there too often after this initial visit if we can call it that.

Yep, rushed indeed and I believe that was due to them falling behind schedule. I was there on time for my appointment and had to wait a half hour to be called in. No worries, my doctor will hear all about it next time I see him.

Thats a crazy rush 2i. I think lot of doctors forgot about the care in health care. I fired one of my medical specialist yesterday. I got to her office 15 minutes early as they suggest, was called and seated into a room 30 minutes after my appointment time, and then left without seeing her 15 minutes later. Onward and looking for her replacement,

I expect them to remember what I say; and, given my own memory, I think taking notes is a good idea. They should, however, discuss why you're there. They may not always comment on what you think the reasons are for your affictions, either not to offend you or because agreeing with you might put them at odds with the legal eagles and/or the insurance companies.

I get what you are saying, but it is hard to understand why they couldn't consider and comment on my thoughts concerning my afflictions. I listen to my body. They are “practicing” medicine not me.

My doc is great. We went to school together. I go in there and he asks me what I want. He says "I suppose there is no point in offering you meds?" and I say no... He asks if I want to see a specialist and I might see yes. He might take bloods and my BP. He types a memo to get it done, then I leave.

The last time I met with my Doctor he spent more time looking at his computer screen than at me. it seemed strange like he didn't want to face me. About 6 months after this I learned what was probably causing his weird behavior. He was drunk.

So you waited a half hour then was put into another room to wait some more? Holy crap Gal, I don't blame you for leaving.
