Actually it's the same old Mouse Trap, just a smarter way of using it. Have you ever set out a Mouse Trap only to come back the next day to find the bait is gone and the trap wasn't even set off? A mouse is a very delicate creature, it can pick the bait off the trap without setting it off. But not if the bait is glued to the lever or affixed in some other way, like with a tiny rubber band. The mouse tries to pull the bait off the lever and it wont budge so it pulls a little harder and Bam one less mouse in the house. I find it's also a good idea to place a few tiny pieces of bait on the floor in front of the trap which the mouse will eat without any problems. this will make the mouse confident that it's not a trap and it will go for the morsel stuck on the lever and it's all over.

heaps of times I've found empty set traps , found a few times that rats have half eaten a mouse that has been caught to . Once the starlings start nesting in the roof I stop trapping rats , they deal with the starlings .

I don't like killing creatures!
Best mouse trap is a straight side tall bin with food inside ... push it back against something the mouse can travel on to get to the edge of the bin... once it's in, it can't climb back out up the straight slippery sides of the bin...
I use the same bin to take them away and release them into the fields ...

My technique- I melt the cheese on the trigger with a cigarette lighter, then make a few wraps of cotton round it while its still gooey. Seems to improve the strike rate.

I can see that working. The mouse gets his teeth hooked on the cotton fibers and when he pulls his head back ...Snap thumbs up

I discovered it by accident when I'd left the lid off the empty bin in the kitchen and there was something left at the bottom... the mouse prefered that to the smaller humane trap I'd set up not far away! laugh
