Where is Paradise ( Archived) (45)

I've got lots of paradise about the place - hammocks seem to play a role in many of them. Alone on a deserted white sand beach in the South China Sea (Banda Islands) lazing in a hammock next to my bamboo hut sipping on a scotch as the sun dips below the horizon over a pristine ocean.

Locked away in winter with a good idea and writing.storms pass outside and time stops. The need for nothing more than an idea. You sleep when you're tired, you eat when you're hungry and try to shower occasionally. The world outside becomes a foreign land as you type, type type...with no knowledge of day, date or hour.

Playing music at two in the morning with people you've just met who hail from different parts of the world. The sun comes up, someone's now sitting in your lap, we're all drunk and deciding where to have breakfast.

Riding a motorbike through the islands of Indonesia with no aim or plan other than to keep moving. Mountains, beaches, rice paddies, cities...making it up as you go. Weird and wonderful new food, people and places. There's nothing but the now.

Living on the side of a mountain in the Himalaya for three months in a stone hut in winter. A fifteen minute walk to the village below for supplies once a week, living like a hermit with nothing but a fire and the surrounding eight thousand metre peaks for company. The excitement of meeting an English speaker months later.

So many paradises, so little time.

That does sound really nice Jisore. What are the average temps and humidty for those areas?

Himalaya was -5 to -10 degree lows with very little humidity. Equator/tropics 28-32 degrees with around 80-100 percent humidity depending on time of year.

Paradise is where you make it.
