A feminist might be a man hater, but misandry isn’t a necessary requirement of feminism. To point to man hating feminists and hold them up as being representative of all feminists, for the purposes of making an argument against feminism, is to do what a certain misguided individual round here often accuses others of doing. It is called a “straw man argument”, and is a concept the aforementioned individual clearly cannot grasp.
I thought it might be useful to define the basic principles of feminism, so that, should anyone want to make a argument against it, it would be far easier to judge if their reasoning is legitimate.
My understanding is that feminism demands equal rights and opportunities for women. I find it very hard to come up with an objection to that, but perhaps I am unaware of some other -more disagreeable- aspects of feminism.
So, if anyone would like to offer their definition of “feminism”, let’s have it.

ChesneyChrist: In my generation feminism is the license to do any mad thing you want like the pretty girls can. No consequences.
I don't think the right to do any mad thing one wants, is within the generally accepted definition of feminism, Chesney. If it were, I suspect there would be a great many more feminists.

And sometimes the reverse. Men laughing at everything a pretty woman says has her shave all her hair off. It is a perverse reaction to receiving a lot of attention based upon lies.
HarbalEsquire: Thank you, Frau Spitz, at last, what I was asking for.
Now I wonder if anyone would like to either challenge this definition, or make an argument against its fairness.
I’d like to know why the need for feminist exist today. Women are way ahead of men in most things today in the USA. By way ahead I mean... quality jobs, college educations, acquisitions, savings, multiple relationships, better cars and homes, more frequent quality vacations etc

This is why Galrads . Just one example of inequality between men and women in the workplace.
Inequity in pay is not always along gender lines. I sued my employer for position and pay equity which I wanted in 1994. Took it as far as a federal court of appeals and won. Luckily I had a good attorney. I could have complained about reverse discrimination but chose to take the higher ground.

Perhaps the job won't be finished until you have a woman President.
germanspitz: Thank goodness for that I thought it might have meant Full Blown Idiot as there are so many of them about these days,
Gee my last gf said I was that after I worked up the courage and told her I was tired of only opening her book and reading from it, never read from our book much and never mine.
