germanspitz: There was me thinking that Covid 19 was responsible for this mess as you like to call it.

Branson has laid off ALL his employees for 8 weeks without pay while he languishes on Necker an island worth millions which he purchased for £180,000 and protects his 5 billion.

Like many in the British Government I call that shameful.
Did you even bother to see what our own chancellor of the exchequer is proposing to help businesses, and the mortgage holiday, As I said previously would you see our economy fail, we will need people like Branson to pick us up again after the crisis.

Did you even bother to read my post re many businesses closing down. Thought not.

I'm for the average person trying to make a living such as the businesses suffering under floods and now hit yet again by Covid19 .

Get a grip Tom and look at the bigger picture or in my case the smaller businesses with no backing behind them.scold

People like Branson are self funded. He won't lose his home or suffer financially to the extent others may. Huge conglomerates will survive but the likes of small businesses and people losing their pay through lack of work will be crippling and there won't be a recovery for many .

By the way as a self isolator watching the new, yes I am fully aware of the Government trying to deal with this vast problem so stop being so patronising.

You don't seem to realise people like Branson will take a knock, some going to the wall. We will need people ;ike Branson to rebuild our economy, when we come out of the other side.

I am self isolating too. So you are not alone there.

Yes the goverment is helping small businesses, but the larger onesshould be helped as well, much as this may go against your socialist mentality.

raphael119: As Russia and China lavish great riches on the common man?
Not exactly " lavishing riches " but at least poverty has been massively reduced over the past 20 years or so and the standard of living for working people has risen considerably.

I suppose you'd not be able to understand the mentality of the Russian & Chinese governments who can see that if they want the whole country to rise, then all must be lifted !

Go back, have another read of Eisenhower's 1953 'A Chance for Peace' and his 1959 'Farewell Address' ... both are written in very plain and simple language 'Every bullet' he said 'is food from the mouths and clothes off the back of a poor American' .

But ya'll did not listen ... nor did you accept his warning to be ' ... an alert and informed citizenry' etc etc

doh

You really are a daft old sopa Tom !

Blokes like Branson simply soak up the first lot of billions they get and then come back again and again ... they're like lice - you ever seen lice turn up and pay you back for the de lousing treatment costs ?

No, nor will you see Branson ever pay back a penny - let him deal with reality sometimes you win and sometimes you lose'

Maybe it's a good time for the UK Govt to buy him out ... say a penny on the pound against share value would be extremely generous given how much debt his companies have !beer

Not only patronising but thick as well. Me a socialistrolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing You know nothing about me yet feel that you are entitled to stick labels on me.

Branson thought he was going to open up travel into space a few years back stating he would have achieved it within 6 months. Entrepreneur he may be but he should consider the welfare of his staff above everything as he has stated.https://www.inc.com/oscar-raymundo/richard-branson-companies-should-put-employees-first.html
