This is a crisis that will cost money to everybody, in my country the Government is paying part of the bills and they also made an agreement with banks that owners of pubs etc. could lend money for a reasonable price. The government also lended 90.000.000.000 euro's for helping in all sectors of work. Our national debt has been reduced very much last years, so now we can spend some extra money. By the way, people from schools and universities are people working for the government, so they get payed by the government. Their will be some bankrupts, but if the crises doesn't last to long, I think we will do just fine. Now the stockmarket is imploding, if you have money, maybe it is a good time to buy these weeks. When the crises is gone everything will start to rise again. Only the agriculture will have problems, especially flowers from the Netherlands have big problems now.

Soonyuleknow: Governments need to just print a bunch of money and give it to everyone.
well, that won't work. For if owners of shops and supermarkets know we all have a lot of money they will rise their prices. When we got the Euro in the Netherlands in 2002 a lot of prices went up for about 12.5-25%.

good to read that you JeanKimberley are posting in the forums again
Bogart_1960: you are; as sure you voted for the "screw you " political party ( Not the republican party, they were in favor of the honest hard working Americans)
btw, these guys.... they are not going to pay for your lack of toilet paper. .
Perhaps there needs to be one off payment to anybody effected by the circumstances.
Ideally the conservative values of thrift and personal responsibility have their own real savings so that most private sector workers can pay for their own quarantine. In Singapore government forces individuals to live down and save for a rainy day to avoid bailing out the public at a later time. Kind of the opposite to our pension plan.
galrads: who is paying employees of universities and government, restaurants & other businesses to stay home? are university and government employees getting a free ride while private sector employees suffer financially? maybe everyone is forced to use accumulated sick and vacation leave time they might have?
I assume this is a rhetorical question ?
Who pays for everything in the USA ... it's the increasing number of rank and file poor 'ordinary' Americans - the descendants of those who, in the 1950's and on failed to keep their politicians and the MIC on a tight leash and fell into the deep slumber required to wake with 'The American Dream'
However, had they listened to Dwight Eisenhower then things would've turned out very differently!
Check out Dwight's 1953 'Chance for Peace' speech and his 1959 'Farewell Address'
Y'all were told very plainly and clearly - here's hoping there's a sea change in US politics , though hoping for honesty and decency from the CIA (and plethora of other dark agencies) might be like Canute sat on the beach ...

Well, let's face it, there are several positive things about this virus. It's good against the worldwide climate change. It's also good against overpopulation, I hope... For now many people sitting home there might be a baby-boom in 9 months. By the negative economic expectations, we will also see that the prices of houses will go down. And the housemarket really is a soapbubble, how can it be that a house you bought 50 years ago and did not much rebuilding and restaurating is worth 10 times as much these days? That also effects the rents of houses, I guess lots of people worldwide have problems paying the rent, now I hope prices will go down. And if you want to make money buy some stock in toiletpaper
