Action will be taken against firms that breach consumer protection or competition laws if they do not respond to warnings. The taskforce will also advise government on emergency legislation if problems cannot be addressed through existing powers.

Amazon finally cracked down on theIr vendors that were price gauging PPE. Kind of too late as supplies ran out. Some cos. cant even deliver table salt.

You have to laugh eh ... Right Wing Tories being forced to adopt 'socialist' price controls ... but you can safely bet your very last quid that 'none of their own' will face any prosecutions ! The big companies can gouge extra millions with small, acceptable and therefore 'justifiable' increases across the board ... just add 5 or 10 pence to every item in a supermarket say...
NZ is now also in lockdown ... gonna do more harm than good vs other measures that could should have been taken. Like Italy the Govt worried too much about pc and 'The Economy' so, we have tens of thousands of tourists wandering around and ignoring the self containment rules ... and no flights to ship them out !
