Mexico: President of Grupo Salinas rejects lockdown measures stating they would “bring the economy to a halt” and trigger “crime and chaos”
Author: Mexico News Daily, Published on: 27 March 2020
“‘We won’t die from coronavirus, we’ll die of hunger,’ says corporate head”, 26th March 2020

…The president of corporate conglomerate Grupo Salinas has declared that Mexicans will die of hunger rather than coronavirus if the government orders a lockdown to contain the spread of Covid-19.

After calling for support for President López Obrador – who just days ago urged Mexicans not to stop going out and supporting local businesses – Ricardo Salinas Pliego said that “bringing the economy to a halt” would cause large numbers of people to go hungry because they feed themselves and their families with their daily earnings.

“We won’t die from coronavirus but from hunger,” he said in a meeting with directors of Grupo Salinas companies, among which are TV Azteca and financial and retail firm Elektra.

“In Mexico, the vast majority don’t live on a salary, they don’t live from their savings nor from the government; the vast majority live day to day. … If the majority of the population stops earning income today, they simply won’t have anything to eat tomorrow,” Salinas said.

The businessman also said that a lockdown would trigger “crime” and “chaos,” as has already been seen in México state and Oaxaca with the looting of supermarkets by large groups of people…

Dr. Drew Pinsky Blames Alarmist Media on United States' Coronavirus Panic

"Everything else you see in the press is them trying to capture your eye. They are not helping things and making things much worse to the point where the panic is worse than the outbreak… Don’t get into the spin on social media, take your eyes off the television a bit, and don’t listen to the crazy rhetoric designed to capture your eyes and scare you. We’re going to do fine if we follow Dr. Fauci recommendations, and things are looking good right now.”

Mexico and Canada were already Socialist. And Mexico already has the UN, dictating to them, even their police and military.

The powers that be, (much bigger than Trump), have to totally collaspe American systems, and society itself, to get away with it.
So the population will BEG for "the government to save them".
Hence: The Fall of the Republic

The Left gets what they asked for, and everything and everyone, goes down with them.

Conrad73: Central-America is Earthquake-prone,owing to its location!
But my first thought was, 'What does this mean for USA, and how much will it cost taxpayers"
It is a separate country, but damned if we do, damned if we don't.
And now with the #USMCA trade deal (that the Right and Left both backed), we as taxpayers may be screwed here, as far as natural disasters (and everything else).
