I am not going to eat them as its not appealing to me . Also, Ebola was originated from fruit bats, so I dont plan to add to my diet.
regarding the subject of "weird food," people from different cultural backgrounds eat different foods. Some you might like (I bet you go to ethnics restaurants) and some you don't. The problem is called "bushmeat" as they are not controlled.

I have to agree with Bogie. Bushmeat and the transmission of bad things is well recognized. But it is hard to convince those natives to do without. The reprehensible part are the tourists who buy into into it. They are endangering themselves and depleting endanagered critters.
As to eating a bat, I appreciate them for the devastation they wreak on mosquitoes. Won't happen by me.

well, why not? If you look to what animals people eat: Cows, Pigs, Dogs, squirrels, hedgehogs, Chickens and other birds, snakes and other reptiles, Grasshoppers and other insects. Why would a bat be different? Okay, now we know eating bats is a bad (or bat) idea, maybe I wouldn't.

They aren't bats, bur songbirds are considered a delicacy in some places along the Mediterranean cosy. Even small birds like hummingbirds may be ordered illicitly. I think you will have to be known to the proprietor, and I imagine the price is steep.
Rattlesnake is found in many US restaurants. Wild game (farm raised) is available everywhere. Who knows what is on the menu in the various Chinatowns? You don't see so many feral cats in the alleys.
