Reminds me when I had to use bailing wire to fasten my car’s muffler in place when I was in Flagstaff, Arizona driving out to California years ago in my 67 comaro.

Do what you can till you can do better... I held my first car together with whatever I could find.. 63 Nova.. Gear shift was always sticking, so you'd see me laying down on the asphalt a couple of times a day to adjust the levers.. I was tough back then tho, so not a problem... drinking

Lot's of modern cars have a "Limp mode' that reduces power output to just enough to 'get you home'

I guess idea that could have come from Oregon ...

Someone once pointed out that the E next to the fuel gauge meant empty not enough.
