The term you were probably looking for is 'self depracating' ( showing disapproval of self )
'Depreciating' means something entirely different. ( writing down the value of a financial asset )
And 'humor' is properly spelled 'Humour' :-) :-) :-)
Many allege that spelling doesn't matter, but take " rode - rowed - road and Rhode "
Johnny rode the boat ashore
Johnny rowed his bicycle home
Johnny rowed his road bike out to Rhode Island ...
As for the application of 'laughing at' vs 'laughing with' that's a well established, even ancient, use of language ... nothing 'modern' about that at all !
Now, go back and read this again, with a smiling amused tone ...
* since I do not know you, I will not assign this comment " Now, go back and read this again, with a smiling amused tone ..."- condescending. If you have a one word preference to add feel free to select it yourself.Your advice was duly noted.
Not to belabour a point, but you may dislike typos as much as I. Deprecate as a typo: depreciate Deprecate verses Depracate. Or Humor verses Humour Or Labor verses Labour Harbor and so forth Since I have a little more time to relish this new acquaintance.
He must have written tons of material and edited it, to keep himself occupied. This CS area is not best suited to me as I rarely find leisure time to write but it temporarily assauges my curiousity which is pretty random.
raphael119: HexKEY was a russian troll who did a stint in the notorious Black Dolphin for doing such a lousy job! He didnt seem to think my parody was funny.
Raphael - YOU know very well that I have defended you when others have told lies about you.
I expect that that simple courtesy be returned - you can choose to apologise properly for the 'black dolphin' and 'Russian troll'; remarks ... or you can expect me to make a complaint to Admin today and on any and every occasion upon whiuch I see you that you repeat these lies.
This is the "biggest" humour happening right now in the UK. BOJO actually standing by "Cummings" Boris Johnson backs Cummings and says he acted 'responsibly, legally and with integrity' What a bloody joke. I thought that BOJO was the man to help the UK to go forward. Yeah! right
So! with the breaking news today regarding Dominic Cummings and BOJO backing him up. What about these two that were practically made to resign instead of being "sacked" for flouting "lock down" rules.
Professor Neil Ferguson. The scientist, whose research helped usher in the lockdown, resigned from his role as a key Government adviser after admitting that he had undermined social distancing rules by reportedly meeting his "lover" at his home.
Dr Catherine Calderwood Scotland’s chief medical officer resigned in April after twice breaking lockdown restrictions in order to visit her second home, which was located more than an hour away from her main residence in Edinburgh.
Should Neil Ferguson and Catherine Calderwood be reinstated? after all, they didn't "flout" the *lock down* rules as bad as Dominic Cummings has. Double standards?
Sorry for saying this (not) but I wouldn't shake hands or speak face to face (not that I'm likely to) with BOJO. I'd be too frightened in case I got infected with *STUPIDITY*..........
I therefore, rest my case?? Send them both over to America to play a game of "Golf" with Mr Trump and make them shake hands but no face masks allowed
