Paintings crack me up when they show a blonde, white guy. He was a Jew, born in a hot climate. Logic would say he had black hair and beard and was swarthy.
"Historical appearance Research on ancient skeletons in Israel suggests that Judeans of the time were biologically closer to Iraqi Jews than any other contemporary population, and thus in terms of physical appearance the average Judean of the time would have likely had dark brown to black hair, olive skin, and brown eyes. Judean men of the time period were on average about 1.65 metres or 5 feet 5 inches in height.:58–63 Scholars have also suggested that it is likely Jesus had short hair and a beard, in accordance with Jewish practices of the time and the appearance of philosophers.:123–37 The earliest depictions of Jesus from the Roman catacombs depict him as free of facial hair.:83–121
Historians have speculated over how Jesus' ascetic and itinerant lifestyle and work as a carpenter, with the manual labor and exposure to the elements that entailed, affected his appearance. It has been suggested that Jesus likely had a sinewy appearance."

Found a clue .
From the Hebrew name ?????????? (Yehoshu'a)meaning "YAHWEH is salvation", from the roots ????? (yeho) referring to the Hebrew God and ?????? (yasha') meaning "to save". ... The name Jesus comes from a Greek translation of the Aramaic short form ???????? (Yeshu'a), which was the real name of Jesus.
My goodness. He was white. We have a historical record (several actually but I'll just talk of one but hint at several others) Mary, His mother was described as 'very fair and delightsome'.
In other Gnostic texts when Mary and Joseph realized that Jesus wasn't with them, they went back to Jerusalem and scoured the city and eventually asked the Temple guard "Have you seen Jesus the fair haired, blue eyed boy?" The Temple guard told them he was in the Temple speaking with the "doctors of religion" What's great about 'losing Jesus' shows us it was a 'Home Alone' moment. Obviously Jesus had many brothers and sisters and servants and a large traveling train. (He was NOT poor as many believe)
Afterwards when they got home Joseph (a practicing Essene) showed Jesus the carpentry tools and their (altruistic/symbolic) meanings; the level, the square, the compass, and the hammer... etc.
The description I want to tell you is a documented description from Publicus Lentulus Procurator of Judea under Gaius Julius Caesar. Lentulus who had evidently seen Jesus more than once and who was asked to send Caesar a description of him... wrote: (parenthesis mine)
Christ was "...a man of singular beauty, surpassing the children of men" In stature and body "somewhat tall" and "well shaped" he was such a man... "as beholders might both love and fear.. His hair is the color of a filbert (chestnut) fully ripe, plain to the ears, whence downward it is more orient (darker) of color, somewhat curled and waved about the shoulders. In the midst of his head is a seam or partition of his hair, after the manner of the Nazarites (He parted his hair in the middle) His forehead smooth and delicate, His face without a spot or wrinkle, beautiful with a comely red (blush) His nose and mouth exactly formed, his beard thick, the color of His hair, not of any great length, but forked; His look innocent; His eyes grey, clear and quick; in reproving terrible; in administering, courteous; in speaking, very modest and wise. None have ever seen Him laugh, but many have seen him weep."
There is also a copy of a letter written by Pontius Pilate in the Library of Congress, where upon having summoned Jesus to his estate.. (this was waaay before the cruxifiction; as Pilates wife told her husband 'You must meet this man'). That letter also describes the 'Palestinian' Jesus of that day, but what I remember most of it was how Pilate shook uncontrollably while in His presence.
This depiction of Jesus is from the Tang Dynasty (9th Century)
So there you go. Proof Positive!
Or maybe he was black
In all seriousness, different cultures have depicted Jesus their own way. A number of documents have surfaced from time to time saying he was one race or another, but these are all considered to be forgeries. YOu can read abut it here.

There is some evidence that Jesus was in fact Buddhist and spent most of his life in India. The story tells of how he was taken to India and lived in Kashmir from the age of 13 to 29 where he studied Buddhism. He then returned to Jerusalem and became a prophet, interestingly this would explain the 'missing years, 13 to 24 when there is no record of him. The theory also claims he did not die by crucifixion but survived (there is also good evidence to support that) and returned to India where he lived till the age of 80. It is claimed he was laid to rest inRoza Bal shrine in Srinagar in Kashmir.
