So history has no meaning to you and it can be written / rewritten to 'suit the moment' ?

But life is not so black and white, it has millions of shades of grey.
In a fantasy world, most would choose "correct" in real life, the majority would probably choose elements of both.
The biggest problem being, what is truth?

And that is a liberal critique. Even if you thought someone was a god you still wouldn’t give them the powers of a god. It’s not so much might makes right as might makes monopoly. We have competition law and a political system of checks and balances to make sure that winning one day does not make you the winner for all time.

Of which free speech is an aspect. An inalienable right to an opinion is part of the check, you don’t have to have a license, credential or education to have an opinion or be a member of the member of the elite. You’re entitled to the opinion regardless of your status in free society.

You don’t need to attend one of those colleges that used to be an swimming pool for 3 or 4 years where they train you to go blind. A plumber has the same right to speak as them.

History can/will be determined by those in power. We will believe what we are told to believe. Orwell was a prophet.

Events such as these served as inspiration for aspects of the nightmarish world conjured by George Orwell in "Nineteen Eighty-Four." In Orwell's imaginary state, there is an agency called the Ministry of Truth, which revises events in history to fit with the narrative preferred by the party in power. The protagonist of the book, Winston Smith, is an employee at the Ministry of Truth, and he comes to understand with growing horror how the government edits old newspapers and publications to convince citizens that certain events never took place. The activities of the Ministry of Truth created a society in which it became impossible to decipher the government narrative from what had actually taken place.

No, the biggest problem is lying and not telling the truth. Most who lie are in a fantasy world and the worse offenders are Democrats. I don't think they even know what truth is anymore and this forms from hate, having no integrity, and hiding the corruption within yourself.

HexagonKeySet: People who live in glass houses ought to know better than to throw stones at others eh?

You think the UK is any better ?

You think Spain is any better ?

Or do you prefer to live in denial about the considerable social and economic problems in both ... you think the Catalan people are treated fairly ?

Time to grow up and face some actualities instead of tantrumming .
It’s been reported Spain have been manipulating the Virus deaths just recently. No doubt there will be more to follow in respect of countries real time rates.

Perhaps a sudden spike in deaths among the pesky troublesome Catalans?

Cynical of me, I know ... but why waste an opportunity when the camouflage is so widely believed ???

cheers

Sometimes I feel like I entered "1984"... I've recently watched some historical films and series and wondered how much of rewriting history we will have to endure... It is getting ridiculous. And you are always forced to believe in the newest history version while it changes all the time. Like in "1984"... They say that we have freedom. And the only freedom we have is to badmouth politicians. Otherwise, we have to talk and think and behave as we are told. Nonsense...

I'm so tired of that, of lies, fake news, fake facts, rewriting history, all sorts of prejudice...

TIRED! thumbs down thumbs down thumbs down
